Game of Thrones Discussion Thread ***Spoilers Abound***
Hodor is not what I expected.
Samwell Tarly REALLY isn't what I expected. Wasn't he a ginger? Although, his portrayal is pretty good otherwise.
Littlefinger is awesome.
And the girl in the tub with Viserys is... um... reasonably attractive.
Gendry looks nothing like Robert.
I need a horn to drink out of.
And that last scene... Was chill down my spine awesome.

I concur.
I had almost forgotten that Catelyn seized Tyrion. Gendry looks nothing like Robert, but I suppose it is hard to find lookalike actors.
But, I don't know how anyone who hasn't read the books is following what is going on. For instance, when Jon is threatening the bully to leave Sam alone, Ghost is suddenly there. They had only shown Ghost once, as a pup, up to that point. Also, when Catelyn confronts Tyrion, if I hadn't read the books, I would have had no idea that they were in the south.
Sansa is growing on me.
And yes, that bathtub chica is quite fetching.

Wow, I guess this series is a pretty good read judging from some of the comments here.
I read mostly sci-fi, but just recently reread The Death Gate Cycle (a childhood favorite)
I just put Game of Thrones on my nook. I'll have to read at least the first book before I watch the series. It's going to be tough, because it looks pretty awesome.

Raikir - good point about Ghost. And yes - Sansa is actually really quite well portrayed.

I have never read the books, never even heard of them until it was posted here. This show is pretty awesome though, but I have cheated and used Wikipedia to figure out who the hell some of these people are. That had a lot of spoilers though, but I still like this show. I watch this and The Borgias every Sunday night.

I'm just gonna go ahead and urge anyone who hasn't read the books (or even if you have and just haven't speculated about it) to NOT dig into Jon Snow's genealogy. I think GRRM has a real coup in the works with Jon...

Penis?? Really, HBO?
Was Renly gay with Sir Loras in the books? Was he even gay in the books?? (EDIT: Yes. Subsequent research reveals that they're gay, and I totally missed it.)

I'm as flabbergasted as you, Cusp. I didn't get that at all from the books. And, Balerion was so....meh.

They say when you go on a quest for vengence to dig two graves. They underestimate me.

I realize I'm going bass ackwards into this, but having let myself become addicted to this show prior to reading the books makes me want to read them.

The birth of the dragons ends the first book - and I thought that there was NO CHANCE the show could match the awesomeness of the written version of that event. I was wrong. Holy shit that was the best hour of TV I've ever seen.
