I'm finding random Wifi connections to check email and whatever but they're mostly very unstable (the wind blows and I lose connection).

I think I have a job finally. Piss test tomorrow (I should pass it, I quit in April) is the only thing remaining. 6 weeks paid training 7am-4pm M-F starting the 12th and then a regular schedule of 3:30pm-midnight W-Sun after that. Doesn't look like I'll get much prime-time gaming in :(

So I go down to the clinic today to get the drug screen done. The road is closed for a parade (this is Route 40, not a small inconvenience). So we go back roads to the clinic and they're closed due to the parade, which they conveniently neglected to mention yesterday. They're closed Monday for the holiday (why not have the parade on the day the city is celebrating the holiday? Makes too much sense I guess.). Have 2 calls into the potential employer (which gives no number to call for this sort of thing in the paperwork) to find out if its okay to take it on Tuesday morning since the test is supposed to be done within 24 hours of the job offer.

I hate people. Now my weekend is ruined wondering about things that I can't control.

Drug screen done. I got 3 calls from the 2 messages I left on Saturday, one of which came after I already got home from the clinic.

Now I need to get them a copy of my HS Diploma... WTF? No one has ever asked for a copy of my actual diploma. I'm hoping they can just email it in a PDF or something, but I sent them an email asking how I can get it anyway since mine vanished years ago.

I also found out that I have a misdemeanor on my record from 1995 (operating a vehicle with expired permit, which I thought was just a ticket)... they're definitely doing the full background.

I'm not looking forward to starting training at 7am for 6 weeks, but it's a job so I won't complain that much. I WILL, however, complain that it's almost 90 degrees outside and not even noon...

That's a...unique request. Good luck finding it.

And my advice, stay inside where it's cool.

Three calls, one transfer and two left messages... one unanswered email... still no idea how to get it. I hate summer... don't these people know they're not students and need to be there so they can scan and email me a copy of my diploma (or make another one)

These bastards better not deny me the job because I can't get the damn thing for Monday morning.

So I finally hear back. I can go pay $2 to get a copy of my transcript since the diplomas are from Josten's (the place most class rings are from  ). Then they can mail it out within 24 hours but I can't take it myself... I've been making arrangements to get there tomorrow for the last hour or so... everyone's available after 4pm leaving less than an hour for them to get from work to me, to the admin offices 15-20 minutes away...

I just got a call from the employer to verify some information (they didn't get my drug screen results yet since I took it Tues, so they wanted the ID number to expedite it) and they said they were able to verify I graduated and I don't need to bring in the transcript/diploma. Why not just say "if we can't verify your Diploma/GED, you will be required to provide proof" ?

So 2 days of phone/email tag for nothing... I've worked harder to get this crap the last 2 days than I expect to for the entire 6-week training course.

SirP....this whole thing is what I like to call a FusterCluck.

I can see your future:

At 2pm Thursday your employer requests a 2 week project to be done no later than 5pm Thursday or you are fired. At 4pm Thursday they let you know that they verified your project will get done eventually so you know go ahead and take all the time you need.

Fun!

Reese, out.

The cool thing is that they can't fire me for at least 6 weeks unless I no call/no show. I love paid training.

Somehow my body retains toxins for ridiculously long periods of time... I got a call from the lab that I tested positive for marijuana. I quit smoking in mid-April so it's been nearly 3 months. Even the guy at the lab said it should be about a month. Now I'm waiting to hear from the company so they can withdraw the job offer.

Fuck me.

To top it off, the other job I received an email about interviewing for turns out to be an email error... over 400 people were emailed about the position.

Back to square one.

Got the call. Job offer withdrawn.

Never done anything other than pot except mushrooms and hash, but that was just a couple times about a decade ago. They told me it was pot. The only thing I can think of is that when I was moving there was a bunch of dust laced with pot smoke dust or something. Or the jackasses in the building that like to sit outside and smoke blunts all day.

That really sucks. Our Presidents can admit to smoking pot and snorting coke but still be elected to run the country.

It's also too bad you don't live closer, I know some people around here that I could probably get you a tech job through if you were in the area...

I should check with my recruiter friend and see if she knows anyone in your area or if they have an office there...
