"Gathering resources from a fallen city for a project I'm working on. What are you doing here?" He says cleaning one of his nails with his thumb.

[Jimer Lins]

"Assisting the rightful owners of this 'fallen city' with taking their rightful place in their home again. You are in a sacred place, and are not welcome. You and your companions must leave immediately."

[Blackferne]

"Oh so the diaspora has ended? That dwarf is only one of thousands up the halls in the gates? The dwarven king has returned? Last I checked there were three of them upstairs serving as doormen for the place. Anyways my project is designed to strike against Moltke which I though the dwarves would not mind and maybe approve of. Maybe you let us finish up here, Take our work and leave." Hephus says shifting his weight onto one leg casually.

"Whether there is one or a million dwarves here, this is not your place, not your city. Do not insult our intelligence by pretending that their displacement means you have a right to be here."

Glancing around at Zelvo, he goes on, "I'll let my companion speak for himself, as it is his people's city, but for my part, I don't ascribe to the idea that the enemy of my enemy is necessarily a friend. I doubt the dwarves would approve of anything you do in their homes."

[Blackferne]

Zelvo looks to be fuming.

Hephus turns his attention to Zelvo "Sir I know that you don't want us here, but I can give you full account of what we've taken. About 120 ingots of Thorium, 370 ignots of iron, probably three carts of coal to get the forge started up again. All I need is maybe 24 hours to get the rest of my scaffolding built, then we will go back down into the tunnels from whence we came and be out of your beard."

Zelvo turns to Trinal "Lad I know my blood is boiling, and all I want to do is smash his horned little head in with the fury of a roaring forge, but I'm not sure if that is wise. You seem to have a head on your shoulders. What should I do? Normally I'd defer to Atrios, but he's at the gates."

[Jimer Lins]

Trinal looks thoughtful. Calmly he says to Zelvo, "I counsel caution. Beings such as this one are often willing to bargain or make arrangements, but one must be very careful in doing so. I believe that in general they can be relied upon to uphold the letter of any agreement made, but such agreements are not always as simple as one might believe. That said, however, I am curious as to what they are doing."

To Hephus he says "What exactly are you doing with the materials here? Further, why and how do you intend to strike at Moltke? Obviously the dwarves would have little love for the war wizard, but I confess I'm unclear on why you would be interested in him."

Tony will whisper to the others...

"If he took that much Thorium already, are wegoing to have enough for our project?"

Since I'm familiar, how tough are these demons, the boss that is. Do I think we've got a shot against it in a fight?

Whispering in reply, Trinal says "We need very little; I think we can obtain it from what's left, it's unlikely they took every scrap. Whatever he's building, it's quite a project."

Trinal looks at the scaffolding and the work they're doing. what can I glean from it?

Stavis will cool his head regrouping his thoughts before looking to the group and Zelvo "I two would rather we stop him here but if he speaks the truth of using it against Moltke could well do good for use and the city rebuild" towards the group only in a near whisper "He knew how many dwarfs and where they where located." Leaving little to the suggestion that Hephus could have silently removed the dwarf presence here, after a slight pause to let that sink in "If you wish to confer with Atrios, we either excuse ourselves or be amicable enough to leave, coming back if the decision is they be kicked out."

Stavis will then look back to Hephus "Would have been better to try and come to amicable terms before starting your project but I can understand the logic of entering and leaving before any is the wiser. I would ask that you promise that whatever you are creating, not be used against this city or its inhabitants should the city rebuild."

"I'm happy you are taking an interest in my project, but I doubt my employer would be happy if I went into details. I can summarize as follows though, magical weapon, one time use maybe two if a slight alterations were made, not really appropriate for use against the dwarves, nor are they a concern at this point for our larger aims. I think, and of course I'm biased here, I think this is a good opportunity to just tip our proverbial hats to each other, say good day and not get in each other's way. And I can arrange for compensation for materials if that is deemed necessary to be delivered to the Dwarven king in exile should you require it. Though let's be reasonable in that regard." Hephus says.


Tony it would be hard to take him, not impossible. The type of demon he is pretty powerful, but the other concern is the imps and goblins at his command.

Can I get any idea what it is by just giving it the old once over? I did insight above, but I think I'll roll an arcana check too- seems more appropriate.

Oh forgot that part. He is building a thing which based on what you can see acts to channel magical energies. To what capacity or end you wouldn't be sure. It looks pretty complicated so exactly how it works is beyond your understanding.

Channeling implies a power source or some origin for the energies, and a target. Any idea what those might be?

"I'm afraid that we'll need more information than that. To start with, who is your 'employer'? Your wording implies to me that someone hired you to some end as opposed to this being another faction on the board."

[Blackferne]

If there is a power source you don't see it here. It could be a wizard, could be an artifact, could be a natural phenomena. This is probably just a part of a larger device.

"Well I don't work for any mortal if that is what you are asking. My employer to the extent I will talk about him is extraplanar, but he has concerns with how all of this squabbling pans out. What about you Phoenix Guard, who is your employer?"

[Jimer Lins]

"Interesting, if pointed, question. We're free agents. Obviously we're supporting specific factions in this... 'squabbling', but we're not in anyone's employ." Glancing shrewdly at Hephus, Trinal goes on, "If he has concerns and has employed you, does that mean he opposes the Army of Blood, Moltke specifically or is this done to support a specific faction?"

OOC: Can we retcon what I've said to "Phoenix Guard"? The "Order of the Phoenix" was only because I've been reading the Harry Potter novels to my kids, not because I was trying to dissemble about the name of our group.

"Doesn't like Moltke or the Army of Blood. Whether that supports a specific faction....you'd have to take him up on that. I was contracted to make a thing and use it on a place in the Army of Blood's turf. I'm not interested in the local politics more than I need to be." Hephus says in a more friendly tone (he seems to be slightly more relaxed). "Free agents huh. That's a risky endeavour. But you must have done something right to get soem of that armor and weapons. Does not look like it is from 'round here' if you catch my drift."

"Indeed. We have been lucky enough to have support from certain quarters, but we are not directly answerable to anyone- as you say, that carries certain risks. May I ask how your employer is compensating you?"

Trinal looks at Hephus. What's my sense of whether he's on the level or not? Insight: d20+11=19+11=30

"Ever heard of the Workshop of Prazo in the City of Brass? Probably not. Anyway if things go well, I'll be taking over that place to further my constructions. What about you guys. Anything interesting happening in your wheelhouse?"

Best you can guess, and you think you got the read on him pretty good, he seems interested in avoiding conflict, but resolute to just finish making his thing, and then be off.

"We we have allied ourselves with the Coalition Army to the south but yes we where given gifts beyond their capabilities."

"You mentioned the device currently can only be use once, can we get guarantee that once it is used it will be rendered inoperable. Could negate any damage done to the Army of Blood should they be able make direct use of the item once it is used on them."

"Well I don't know what guarantee I can give beyond my word, but this..." he motions around to the parts that have been crafted so far for the scaffolding"..won't be much more than scrap and junk after the device serves it's function. I suppose if you were in throwing distance they could hurl a chunk of melted iron rubble at you. So I guess I can't promise that the Army of Blood's troops won't find any use for the aftermath when they come in to clean up, but trust me when I say the deficit in loss will be VERY hard to overcome." He chuckles a bit at his own brilliance.

"Ok, It's clear that we each have our own jobs to do. Syric Starts, before turning to Zelvo I suggest you accept his offer of payment, including detail of what was taken and where it was removed from, we can't undo what took place. leaning in close with his voice low or we attack and kill Mr horny and possibly the rest of these things after it offered compensation
