"If we do camp here, we should have no fire. Any smoke will be visible for miles and with those fires to the east, people will be more likely to notice other smoke columns."

The first watch sets in. Tony and Syric listen and hear drums to the east and the drow horns to the west. They each seem to be drawing closer, but they are still a few miles you reckon by the time your shift is handed over to Stavis and Trinal.

When we're woken, Trinal quietly asks "How quickly are those sounds drawing nigh? Should we consider moving on or do you think we're safer here?"

They have gotten closer and worst case you figure they may be up on you in an hour or two. The horns and drums seem to respond to each other. so it could be two opposing forces feeling each other out and coordinating with themselves.

Then we should either move out now or hide very well.

Re: LPDnD: Life is a Highway
The party wakes up the remaining member and goes due north hoping to escape what sounds like a force to the east (drummers) and a group the west (horns). The route you take leads you up a hill which grants a better view of the east. It is pretty evident that whatever that force is to the East they are cutting and burning the forest. Huge bonfires dot the horizon an towers and some kind of workshops are being built. The the west the forest is dark save the reflection of a half moon on tree tops. The sounds of drums and horns still play to your ears to the east and west of your current position.

I guess we'll have to keep going north to try and get around the activity to the east.

Victae surveys the fires and says "That is an army. That is an army destroying the forest to make the weapons of war. We must be near the front and I'd suspect we have passed to the territory of the Army of Blood, Drow Colony excepted. If I had to wager, the Mortal alliance simply said to keep the forest line and that is why we saw the towers for them at the edge. The Army of Blood however wishes to destroy the Drow and doesn't mind taking the forest with them." she looks at Syric, "And Melora must be pissed about that."

"She is, and I am her anger, her tool. I will turn the Army of blood into the fertilizer that will feed these scorched lands." Syric says while staring out at the smoke. "But we must let this forest burn, as it will be reborn from seeds and mites. The gate to the Citadel is our goal for now until we eventually get to destroy Orcus and Bha'al themselves" he continues vehemently.

"Yeah, we can't fight an army, as much as Tony Plush would like to as well. Let's keep moving north and make for the hills as quickly as possible."

"Indeed." Trinal's face is uncharacteristically grim. "Let's go. Stay quiet and let us get away from these lands for now."

Re: LPDnD: Life is a Highway
The party heads north along the ridge and comes across something in a shallow area below. In the distance of maybe 500 yds you see what seems to be a Drow scouting camp. They are cooking some food and mending gear. In the distance to the east you hear what seems to be breaking wood and a "clack clack clack" noise. This clearly has the Drows attention as they are gathering crossbows and looking that way.

Re: LPDnD: Life is a Highway
We'll definitely keep quiet and take advantage of their distraction to get out of the area. I suggest we move below the ridgeline to avoid being silhouetted and just keep moving.

Re: LPDnD: Life is a Highway
If we're safe where we are we may want to see what the commotion is and maybe see what we're facing from the east.
edit: I'm having a hard time visualizing the situation, I assumed we would want to stay on the ridge

Re: LPDnD: Life is a Highway
I figured we were moving north along a ridge and saw below us to the east that there were some Drow looking further east to the clacking noise. I suggested merely that we move slightly west and move north along the west side of the ridge so we're not visible to the Drow and get out while they're distracted by whatever's making the noise.
