The Taris Event Chapter 1 OOC thread
As far as Lok goes in general, what kind of police/military presence does it have, and how is it aligned? Not that it matters right this second, but it may in a little bit to me...

Lok is not under anyone's direct control. The major powers just show up when they want something...or someone. Any sort of legal authority is on a settlement by settlement basis. The spaceport is run by a co-operative funded by various farming concerns.

I'll have my move in shortly btw, as soon as I look up a couple rules and everyone who is after me in the intiative order goes ahead and puts in the their action ahead of me...

No, Furiel is tried of everyone declaring what they are going to do while he's been waiting for the last 18 horus for it to be his turn because Clam wasn't rolling his droids initiative and when he was next...Dood wrote:In other words, Furiel is delaying.Furiel wrote:I'll have my move in shortly btw, as soon as I look up a couple rules and everyone who is after me in the intiative order goes ahead and puts in the their action ahead of me...

Is there some sort of skill check to see if you convince them to go home?
If so, we should let Solumnos do it, he has mad soft skills. And if he fails, we can all use that massive head of his as cover.

Re: The Taris Event Chapter 1 OOC thread
We could try to intimidate them with a Persuasion check.

Re: The Taris Event Chapter 1 OOC thread
I'm not trying to persuade them persay. I just walked out there showing no aggression and told them the honest to Alvis truth. Funny thing about using the truth in a roleplaying game, you hardly ever need to roll for it, which makes it a great weapon if used properly. Now it's up to the rest of you to either back my play and if you have persuasive skills to use them to support me or you can attack and we can find out how squishy they, or we, are.

So how can we speed up/make combat work better? Do we want diplomacy style where when combat mode starts everyone has 12 hours to get a move in and then I process them all, and I do what I think is best for that character in absence of a submitted move?

Re: The Taris Event Chapter 1 OOC thread
I don't know this method has a name, but in the GAT game any PC can go if there is no NPC that needs to act in front of them. Example using our intiative below would be after Sith Apprentice 1 made their move, any of myself, Arrican, Furiel or Gandy could take their turn but Dood has to wait until we are all done and Sith Commando 3 acts. Then after Dood and Sith Commando 1 act, any of the rest could take their turn (although I guess we would treat Aurillius as a NPC).Blackferne wrote:So how can we speed up/make combat work better? Re: The Taris Event Chapter 1 OOC thread
I think after this round (so after Z2-KP moves) we will employ the PCs in any order until a Hostile NPC must move rule. Eoc and Arillius shall be counted as PCs in regards to this since they are on your side. Should two people move to the same square I will bump the one who was lower on initiative one over while trying to stay true to their moves intend (find cover, block a door, be next to the computer etc etc)

Re: The Taris Event Chapter 1 OOC thread
I like the 'everyone enter their orders for the round at the same time.' That way, no round ever takes more than 24 hours. If the initiative order is PC,NPC,PC,NPC,PC,NPC,etc it still takes forever. With the current lineup, there are still 5 NPC to PC transitions that can make a round of combat take days to complete. And at our skill level, we have a less than 50% of hitting someone, and 50% chance of wounding. And if it takes ~3 wounds to kill someone, thats 12 rounds to kill a guy. This combat could last well into the summer.
Re: The Taris Event Chapter 1 OOC thread
The only problem with that is for melee people. Like if I say I'm moving to 55,63 and attacking X, but X moves between the time I state my move and the time it would be processed then what happens....I end up moving to a vacant area and do nothing? That'll speed the combat along...Bulwark wrote:I like the 'everyone enter their orders for the round at the same time.' That way, no round ever takes more than 24 hours. Re: The Taris Event Chapter 1 OOC thread
Furiel what if you said move towards target X as best I can in such a way that I still have an attack....and I smart move it.
Though that would require you to put limits on it. Like if your target used a double move to retreat or whatever you'd have to write up the possibility of whether to follow at the expense of attacking or something like "Attack a target in this area 24-30, 56-60".

Also, on the current combat map, which are the 2 sith apprentices? You have them all marked the same and at least I'm outside so I'm pretty sure I should be able to see the difference between a blaster rifle and a lightsaber.
