Tony disappears like an odorless fart in the wind. The island is not very large has no substantial vegetation and the ruins are porous as hell. You quickly figure out that it is you guys and Porthos and his dinner and maybe a few seabirds nesting on this island and that is it.

Tony's voice sounds out from the middle of the boat, and you spin around to find him sitting comfortably on one of the benches with a wry smirk on his face and a twinkle of amusement in his eye for surprising everyone.

"Scouting the fire itself didn't take long at all, the gentleman at the fire however, we did have a nice conversation and that took a little longer.

Apparently poor Porthos up there on the hill was drafted by Mumford into his crew, and when he refused to renounce his allegiance to the gods in favor of his preferred dead deity they tossed him overboard and he swam here and has been living off the land for a couple weeks. His dislike for Mumford seemed legitimate so Tony Plush believes the information the gave me about their disposition as well. Currently they are using three sea forts as bases of operation, the island we passed earlier and also the islands of Brynesot and Flourgis.

Tony Plush offered to bring him with us however he declined at this time because Porthos has no interest in getting in a scrape with Mumford's crew however Tony Plush did give his word that we will either return for him on our way back to port or that we will send someone for him."

"Interesting. So should we return to the other island and look around, investigate the other two islands, both, or simply take the intel we have back to the Duke? I'm inclined to the first, as I'm going to guess Mumford was with the larger group."

"Should we take him back to port now? It would be pretty bad if he was stranded out here." Victae asks.

Viggo says, "We have a mission to scout the islands, and that is what I intend to do."

Vlad says "Brother don't be such a hard ass. That old man could starve or catch a cold if he's not careful. We ought to at least try."

Stavis will nod greeting to Tony "I don't know that I would want to scout all three tonight but may not hurt to verify one of the other sites, come back here, and report to the duke with the gentleman and our own scouting. That way all the would be needed is to scout the last and possibly start verifying numbers of all three islands before coming to any decision on how to go from there."

Well there is absolutely nothing on this island. And we need to push forward or in our case back to the previous island. We can fetch him in the morning. one more day will not hurt him. says Spintik who then climbs into the boat readying for send off.

Syric looks back and forth between the party members"So are we going back to the previous island knowing that the boats probably had raiders? All this inaction is making me restless, I say we go back and clean the scum from that rock."

Options:

1) take Porthos back to Port and update teh Duke with information. Get additional supplies or men as deemed relevant.

2) leave Porthos on the island and go back to Island #2 to clean up or spy under cover of darkness.

3) Scout islands 4-7.

I vote #2 with the spying option being the primary purpose. We're supposed to be out gathering info so checking one of their camps under the cover of darkness for troop strengths, etc is very valuable intelligence.

I vote #2 for spying but will be prepared to do battle and assume that is what will eventually happen.

With everyone rested a bit during the trip to this island, you set off again under a cloudy sky. Navigation is a bit tough without the stars but Viggo seems to be able to do it with minimal swearing.

You approach an island that has a fort on it with some torches on the dock illuminating two docked boats. There is also a fort with fire light shining through the windows.

You pull up to the far side of the island.

"So what's the plan?" Vlad asks.

"So here is a random thought, perhaps before we go scouting the fort it might be worth going and sabotaging their boats. We could then trap them on the island and if we need to leave in a hurry then they have no way to pursue.

It could also be a good tactic for waging a campaign against them, by sabotaging their boats we can isolate individual groups making it easier to take them out later."

"I like it. One thing we might consider is to not just sabotage them but to set them ablaze after setting an ambush. When they come to investigate we can attack on our terms and even if they don't all show, it's still easier than tackling them in their stronghold. Of course, then we lose the element of surprise."

With a broad grin, "I wholeheartedly agree, cutting their means of escape is an excellent idea."

[ooc]I had been thinking that but was assuming we were just going to try to sneak in and sneak out

"Sabotage just in case we need to withdraw, scout then if we decide to attack then we set the ships on fire to lure them out. Stavis, Spitnik, anyone sneaky care to accompany Tony Plush?"

I am in for Sabotaging the boats and I will provide the necessary cover. says Spintik. He will get out of the boat and do a quick search of our beachhead.

Stealth

Perception

Once done, he will remove leather straps from his gear and wrap his feet for extra quietness.

Spintik quietly says with a smile I still think Trinal should go in and do some of his great diplomacy.

"I will come as well for the extra eyes, though I may be the minority I would rather set their boats ablaze and then just leave. If we do that unless their boats are undermanned they will have more men then boats. Not to mention until the others find out the boats have been rendered useless they're fighting force will be reduced without them knowing about it. If we do that to all three, the raiders could well be rendered a non-issue without any real fighting having to take place."
