"We're looking for a late lunch, and we'll need rooms for seven people for the evening. Thank you, Bran, it's most appreciated."

Trinal seats himself at a table and gestures the rest to sit down. Once Bran is out of earshot, he says quietly, "So. Viggo and Vlad. That's interesting."

About Fifteen minutes after the 5 enter the Tavern Stavis and Spintik join up as Stavis had positioned himself close to the road the group used and had seen the others procession head that way. While keeping his mask on will decline on any food but will order a drink and go ahead and pay for both the drink and his room with a gold piece.

After getting settled and a draw from his drink will let the group know about what little he heard about Mumford being the leader of the raiders.

"Playing the devil's avocado, it could just be a coincidence. I mean we knew a bartender named Bran before and..." Victae says pointing to the bartender grabbing the lunches and instructing his wife to prepare the rooms.

"That is true, maybe we should ask if he's got a wife named Barbie" Syric says with a smile before putting on more serious look, "but with both here to where we were brought we need to be careful. I'm sure there are followers of Orcus and Bha'al all through out time, but we end up in a time with Viggo and Vlad. Does anyone know any of the history of the Spectral Alliance, or what else were they called....the League of Death?" After a thoughtful pause he continues, "those two could also just be part of our test, they may want to see if we'll kill them to prevent them from turning even though they may still be innocent..."

"Thanks, Stavis and Spintik. That's good information, appreciate you going after it. " Trinal brings them up to speed on our little discussion at the Duke's place.

"I could go for coincidence, but this is stretching it a bit far. Unless our benefactors have set it up such that we'd be tempted to do something. I'm going to assume not, and that V and V are in fact the same individuals we were interested in previously, but go a little further and point out that whatever is happening, right now they are not, in fact, undead. So maybe we have a chance to head off whatever led them down that path."

He shrugs. "Of course, maybe our being here is the catalyst for what set them on it, and we can't avoid it. Or maybe this is all an illusion designed to test us. I think all we can do is proceed with as much caution as we can."

"I agree Trinal, we need to keep in mind that we are being tested to see if we are virtuous enough to be brought back. Real or illusion, this is a test."

Stavis after getting up to speed, even through the mask seems a bit troubled. "There are two issues here. One if they vampires in our time they are currently not right now, the simple answer would be to prevent them from becoming vampires in the first place. Should we fail the first task the question becomes do we kill them when they do turn."

Stavis will pause for a moment to collect this thoughts and courage for the next part. "Though I would point out that we may well not want to interfere in that at all." He will pause again giving everyone time to let the shock subside. "I know that is not a popular option, but I would point out that in our time the vampires are currently staying neutral to both causes we where fighting. That should we change something here could have drastic changes in our own time. Quite possibly for the worse should different leaders side with either the Barbarians or Bha’alists."

"I will fully admit that I consider you all allies and willing to lay down my life for you all but though I do not enjoy pointing it out, before my eyes where open to the wrongness of what my people did should we have meet it would never have been possible for it to have been as allies."

"It's a fair point, and well taken. We should remember that vampires are by nature evil, or at least I've never heard of one that wasn't. However, I'm loath to simply kill a man just because he's an officious little..." Trinal smiles grimly.

"In any case, I'm not fond of the idea of simply killing someone who hasn't done anything that we know of. I hold out hope that we can prevent whatever caused these two to become what they did."

"Tony Plush actually concurs with you Stavis. Right now things at home are balanced as far as we can tell. Balanced on a knife's edge as far as we can tell, but balanced nonetheless. Tony Plush would suggest we use this time to not only accomplish our task here now, but we should try to learn as much about Vlad and Viggo as possible. If we assume that this isn't just a coincidence we have an unprecedented opportunity to learn about our potential enemies and in so learning about them now they could provide us with valuable clues for how to defeat them in the future."

Agreed. Part of this test is probably to see how we handle the concept of Time. I think we should do nothing against V and V unless directly threatened. Collecting as much information on them as possible is a good idea. How do you know they are not vampires now? or one of their followers?

I suspect we might we walking into a hornets nest in those abandoned castles. We should prepare for the worst.

Morning comes, beds are made, breakfast ate, prayers said if you are into that kind of thing.

The group goes to the gate as directed to the gate and are met by Viggo wearing a doctoral cap (minus the tassle) with his blonde hair sticking out from beneath it. Next to him is a stockier man near his young age with two swords strapped to his back and hide armor on displaying the coat of arms for the city. He has longer brown hair falling just past his shoulders. He is clean shaven and talking to Viggo as you approach.

Viggo takes notice that there are two more than yesterday and pulls out notepad he has in his bag.
"I see you've hired another soldier to your ranks, and a clown for amusement?" pointing at Spintik and Stavis respectively.
"Now if the new members here could please give their names, place of origin, and affiliations."

The other speaks up.
"Brother you take your duties too seriously. Hello I'm Vlad, Viggo's brother, and I understand we are going for a boat trip today. I hope none of you get sick on choppy water. It looks like it will be a rough day of wind ahead of us."

Syric would have made a quick stop to purchase two daggers, thinking back to his encounter with the flying spike devil.

"Hello Vlad, good to have you with us, I'm hoping Kord and Melora will try to not make our ride too rough, but we should be fine. Do you know how long it's been since these forts were last manned?"

Before getting on the boat, Syric, now feeling a pull to be more faitful to his dieties, will begin to make an offering to Melora, but finding he doesn't seem to have anything to offer will make a prayer for calm seas and a promise to be better prepared next time. For Kord, he realizes he doesn't have anything to toast the storm god with, so again he sheepishly makes only a prayer for calm skies.

Vlad leads the group towards the docks while Viggo writes notes about teh two new members (Stavis and spintik).

Vlad says "The seat forts are remains from the old empire, but various Kings have occupied them from time to time. They haven't been used in a generation at least in any official capacity usually acting as a smuggler den."

At the port he leads you to a boat that looks similar to this.

He hands you each an oar as you step onto the boat.

"With the wind as it is, we will need to row out a bit before we can deploy the sail. I suggest you all stretch first. No sense in cramping up twenty minutes into this. Also have any of you every been an oarsmen before?"

Trinal looks dubiously at his oar.

"In my youth I would often till fields, so I'm no stranger to hard work, but this is a new experience for me. Any tips for how to do this properly?"

He moves out of the way and stows his bag under whatever bench he's directed to, then proceeds to do some simple stretches.

Syric holds the oar like he would his greatsword before shaking his head and replying, "No, I've speant most my time on land"

He sets the oar down as he begins to stretch like Trinal.

"Minor experience though not a ship as large as this."

Stavis will pick a spot on the other side of the ship from Trinal putting his under his seat.

Victae takes her oar and settles into a bench.

"Ok the key is not brute strength, though that is important, the key is for us to row in unison. I will do a shout in time and at every shout you should be pulling the oar. Viggo will be at the rudder guiding us. Once we get out of port a bit we will unfurl he sail which will provide most of the speed. At that point the rowing is mainly to help correct course. I'll give shouts port or starboard. That side of the boat will keep in time with the other side doing every other shout until I say otherwise. Any questions?" Vlad says as he is also checking the lines on the ship.
