@Stavis
You guess that she figures you guys are mercenaries or travelers on route to some place. she doesn't seem to peg you as vets or green, but noncombatants.

@Spintik
"Aye. We sure could use a miracle if they head this way. Them fishing villages are maybe a week sail up the coast." she says. she then goes to one of the other patrons to take their order.

"Well, Tony Plush is no scholar, but it seems that our task here is fairly clear. After we eat perhaps a visit to the Duke would be in order..."

Since the barmaid left Syric will see if he can pick up any guess as to the size of the raiding force.

Trinal will make a history check to see what he knows about what went on after the good knight passed on.

"I think it would be a good idea to avoid fortresses, heh. I'm trying to remember if I know anything about the raiders that might be helpful, it's been a while since I studied this part of history."

Trinal looks bemused.

"It's a mark of how strange things are that I'm sitting here saying that."

Stavis will lean to the group "well if the pervious was any indication they are likely the Barbarians"

Victae returns and discreetly hands Stavis a small sack and whispers "Your deity gave me an idea." Inside the sack are a traditional Corellon (of which Ervan Ilsere's dominion is covered) Fall Festival mask. The holiday is known for pranks and trickery, and jester's pretending to be kings. The mask is similar to this:

Though maybe not as fancy.
There are also white gloves in the sack and some face paint.

She whispers "I thought perhaps it might be easier if you were a jester in our company. People wouldn't see you, just the mask." She smiles.

Turning to the table, "What's the story chaps?"

Also Spintik Nicholas is with you, you can feel it, though at the moment you don't see him. He does that kind of thing from time to time.

Well Victae, It appears we are in the past and there are raiders along the cost again, we are all hoping it is going to be the barbarians, but that would be a bonus. I am guessing we will probably pay a visit the local Baron to get some royal decree aka money to fix their pickle. Nice Mask btw, good idea.

"Well, I don't know if anyone else caught it but I've been eavesdropping to try and see what's going on. It seems the raiders have a new leader named Mumford that's been recruiting other maurading groups. He sounds like he's rather charismatic and the raiders themselves don't seem to be like the barbarians we faced before. I haven't heard how large a force he has, but if he's recruiting it doesn't bode well for us."

"Barbarians from before? Those guys were horsemen, ate horse hearts and the business. Not exactly seafaring material even if it was called the Green Sea. And I might remind you revenge is a dessert, not a meal." Victae says stealing Syric's half finished ale.

"So what's our next step then?" Victae asks while signalling for the barmaid to order a round of ale and a bowl of stew.

"I believe once we're finished here we will find this Duke the barmaid mentioned and go from there."

When the barmaid arrives with the additional stew and ale, Syric will stop her to ask where they can find the Duke.

Stavis will thank Victae but will hold off on putting the mask on until after they leave. "I will admit it has its holes and could just as easily be related to the Bha’alists or no relation to them, so that is neither here or there at this moment."

"The question becomes how do we want to handle this situation. We will to some degree offer our services but I think we need more information on this group. A rather small group is all that is really need to terrorize the fishing villages so far, but will require quite a bit more to attack here."

"I doubt I'm the only one hesitant to get ourselves into a similar situation of out gunned against a large force. If they are capable of bringing to bear that large of a force would no doubt take time to gather and likely to say smaller in forces and that could be how we help deal with the problem at hand."

"Well I don't think we'll be facing the same numbers. That was an invasion force, where raiders hit and run. Either way, the Duke may have the information we need."

"Faycrest- this country- is at war with its neighbor Falconcoast quite a bit during this period. If my recall is correct, there's nothing special about the raiders in terms of history, just the usual coastal raiding that this country had problems with for quite a while. It'll be interesting to see what's influencing the current round of hostilities. Tread lightly, friends. When we speak with the Duke, I'd like to lead the talking if possible."

"Something to consider, if seven folk in armaments show up offering to help the duke, they will probably ask us who we are, as in organization affiliation. Would it be beneficial, or at least easier, to figure out a name for our group?" Victae asks.
