I can't speak for anyone else, but I have a feeling this is the thing that Brago didn't quite tell us- that Heppil was more than simply a disgruntled business partner. There's something else going on here, something possibly quite dangerous, and while I can understand a certain desire to be done and out, my curiosity is piqued. And I've found that my curiosity, unlike the old adage about cats, usually saves my life.
After all, these men died to protect Heppil and his forge- against all reason- and we then find that his sigil is tattooed on their chests. Something is wrong.

"Shut up Syric, the smart people are talking now. In fact, why don't you make yourself useful and go down that hole by yourself and find out if there are any creatures in there. See if you can handle a real fight instead of just walking in and cleaning up one critter after Gobo, Stavis and Tony Plush have severely wounded it then acting like your all big and tough."
Then turning to Trinal
"And Trinal, Tony Plush completely agrees, and in answer to your earlier query no Tony Plush cannot read Dwarven. Braggo was hiding something during the initial meeting but Tony Plush wasn't able to draw him out about it. Something rings a bell about that tattoo but Tony Plush can't put his finger on what yet. The tattoos plus the one dwarf going on and on about this dark master. There is a link between them Tony Plush is sure of it. Has anyone opened those crates yet and checked what's inside of them?"

Trinal glances from Tony to Syric.
"Please, gentlemen. You're both quite good at what you do, and we're better off as a group if we can avoid getting into conflicts needlessly."
He looks at Tony. "I poked around in the crates and found lots of ironwork. It bore various symbols, including Brago's, several I did not recognize but which appear to be of other craftsmen, and of course this one." He holds up the random small piece (ooc: Joun, you tell me what it is) that he took from a crate, which bears the skull and droplets sigil. "It matches the tattoos quite nicely."
He lowers the piece of ironworking and cocks his head, looking thoughtfully at the bodies.
"I agree that it's something slightly familiar. As I said, I think it's religious, but I couldn't tell you why for sure. I noted the same thing you did- that there was something Brago didn't tell us. I had no more luck than you drawing him out, obviously. I'd like to ask Brago, and maybe get a look at some of the books in his library."
He looks at the mine now.
"I think the biggest question is do we check the mine now, wait for daybreak, or get the wagons and load them up, and check the mine later? Personally I think we should burn the bodies and investigate the mine immediately, before any more people come by."

"Quit talking little boy, I should have left you on the ground where I found you. You were the one too chickenshit to fight until Gobo would get close. If you want a real fight, by all means come and get it."
"Trinal, I'm sorry I bothered bringing you back to this mess, I should have just followed your lead and left."

Trinal chuckles. "No need to apologize, my friend. Mr. Plush can be annoying at times, but he's very good in a fight- " he sketches a small bow in Tony's direction - "As are you. And I will admit, now my curiosity is very much piqued. I'm interested to know what's in that mine and why Brago wanted all this done. I think it was for more than simply business reasons."
"If we can agree to stop finding reasons to fight one another, I think you'd admit that we're quite a formidable group, wouldn't you say?" He glances meaningfully at the bodies scattered about.

"If that is the way you want it Syric, let's go. Since we have met you have been nothing but insulting to every member of this group and have provided almost nothing of benefit. You claim to be diplomatic but all you do is run your mouth insulting those that you are working with and you have been much more of a detriment than a benefit to this group since the moment we met. Tony Plush is done with you, if you want to dance, then lets dance."

Turns back to the group "Now now guys we almost had a fight after all the dwarfs were taken care off lets not go pushing for another one. Tony the crates out here are more of the same gear, nothing military in nature but with the same marking at the tattoos. I'm all for completing the task at hand and getting away from this place, find evidence of the theft to show to the sheriff and get a big payday, but simple thieves they are not. Lets do some investigating but when we meet back up with Brago lets stay civil last thing I want is to piss of the client. Hopefully he either didn't know about this or was hoping to have us prove our merit and there are more jobs with this completion."
Stavis then turns to Syric "If your willing to wait for me to quickly clear the top most of the mine to see if they've hidden anything I'll head with you to get the wagons so we can get to loading them up sooner rather then later."

Trinal shakes his head sadly and drops the piece of iron on the ground.
"Since we can't even do something simple without getting into a fight, I believe I'm going to get out while I still have my skin intact. I'm certainly not going to go any further with a group that's as likely to try to kill me over some stupid thing as try to actually accomplish something."
"It's too bad, really. This could have been a good group. Goodbye, gentlemen."
He walks down the road back toward the wagons to collect his pack and go back to Belholt.

[OOC] I really don't get Tony Plush. In combat he attacked and killed Heppil, Syric hit the choker, healed Tony, hit Hex A, healed Gobo, hit Hex B then killed Hex B, so I wasn't sure how to react to his comments about a real fight. I really wasn't trying to be very insulting other than my comments about him being a youngster (and seriously, dood was drunk most of the game, calling a spade a spade is all I did with him) until he tried to 'mediate' the gobo thing by threatening syric. I would have liked to keep playing but I don't think it looks good.[/ooc]

Also both of you have spent your daily, but encounter powers are renewed. You are down however many healing surges you've used.

[ooc: An important metagame moment from the GM.

I am not going to force you to play your character in ways that aren't true to that character. You are the maker of the character, and the voice of that character. You have to decide how he would react. If you want to go to blows, that is your choice. I am perfectly capable of running multiple story lines loosely entwined. But know this, like when it came time to decide who would play what roles/classes I told you that I was not adjusting the encounters I made to fit an all DPS party for instance. Likewise, if the party fractures and the mystery of these tattoos, brago etc etc is continued to be investigated you might be facing fights built for 6 people and not 5 or 4 or 3. The choice is your guys. My hope is that you guys do the classic action movie thing Badass A fights Badass B, they realize after inflicting and receiving several bruises and cuts that this guy is perhaps all right. Or if you'd prefer you can always tell me you wish to reroll your guy with a new personality and we can transfer some XP over.[ooc]

Initiative is 11+6 mod = 17 total
Since Syric is already stated his intention to attack I'll go ahead and open the hostilities...
As I won initiative so Syric has not acted yet First Strike gives me combat advantage
Tony marks Syric and attacks with Torturous Strike and Sneak Attack
attack: 1d20+7+2: 10+7+2 = 19 total

"The POINT of this Syric is to knock some sense into you! You may yield at any time and the matter will be over if you remain civil with Tony Plush and the rest of the party."
[ooc]You want to know why Tony doesn't like Syric, just look back through this thread, EVERY time you have spoken to him you have offered him an insult, be it small or large by either ignoring him or offering direct verbal jabs. Tony tried to mediate between you two because he was trying to build a team and right at the end of a battle emotions can run high and as a veteran warrior he understands that. But you continued to insult people. You've insulted Tony at every opportunity, you insulted Gobo repeatedly, you've insulted Ham'mon (although that was kinda deserved but still, he's OUR drunk currently). Tony sees Syric as a divisive element and he needs to either be brought into line or removed from the group.[/ooc]

[ooc (obviously)- I really would have liked to play this further. I won't point any fingers, but merely say that I'm trying to RP a young, relatively intelligent guy who would make a reasonable choice based on the circumstances. And the most reasonable (and sane) one seems to be to get out before someone decides they don't like the way he said something or smiled or something. There's a lot of hair-triggers and if I were Trinal I'd be scared of some of these guys because they seem frankly rather insane]

[ooc] You're more than welcome to dislike Syric, but for the sake of explaining my characters intent: Syric was trying to get a job that he felt you were disrupting by your attitude and attempt to squeeze cash up front. Tony claimed to be a businessman and Syric didn't see the need for one of those in the mission at hand. Calling Tony 'businessman' going forward was not meant to be an insult. Anything Syric did afterwards was a response to Tony. Others didn't seem to take insult when none was intended, though Stavis should have because Syric does not like drows, I tried to make that clear. It seemed any small jab at Tony resulted in a disproportionate amount of venom back to Syric. I thought I was responding to your bravado about a 'real fight" with more bravado and then Tony is rushing Syric with a sword. Anyway, I'm sorry we didn't see each other's characters the way they were intended[OOC]
