"It's ok to let Tony sleep I can answer questions before I meditate." Stavis moves close to the fire to get what warmth he can "Nether he nor I heard a scream or we would have picked up the pace to get here or investigate further the origin of the sound. So can safely say the sound did not from the direction of the quarry."

Stavis checks his pack to see if his bed roll he had on him got wet to give to Tony, though doesn't hold much hope of that.

if Tony plush could get over Tony plush and listen he would hear that we are in the middle of the investigation.

Syric will stay near the fire as long as people are talking, returning to the wagon if no one continues.

Furiel wrote:"So there was a scream and everyone was fine, no one saw anything, including the person on watch and there has been no follow up investigation. That's just fantastic. Tony Plush would also like to commend you all for not moving his bedroll out of the rain so he has nowhere dry to sleep. You've all done a great job tonight, you should be proud."

The last is delivered in sneering derision and Tony will head over to an unoccupied wagon, shake his cloak out then crawl underneath and try to get some rest before dawn
Furious, Trinal says If that's what Tony Plush thinks, he can piss right off. I have better things to do and can be insulted by a better class of person in a nice warm inn.

He grabs his bedroll, pack and gear from under the wagon, suits up and leaves.

Stavis tries to convince Trinal not to leave "I do agree he should have worded any frustration better and doubt it was truly directed at the group and would attribute much of that to his lack of sleep. I will not stop you from leaving should you chose to but would caution leaving now with the events you all have mentioned and would suggest at least waiting till morning."

"Look, Tony Plush spent half his night last night in jail because he was being falsely accused of robbery while he was just trying to have a nice evening with some local girls. Tony Plush then spent 10 hours driving a wagon followed by another 7 plus hours of scouting and skulking around the quarry so that we can get an idea of what we will be walking into tomorrow. Tony Plush is cold, wet and exhausted. As he did not hear this scream then that means it must have occured at least 10 minutes ago, so whatever and however it happened it's likely gone by now and it's too late to do much about it except possibly find a body. So yes, Tony Plush is going to sleep because if he doesn't then he will be useless tomorrow and judging by what was seen tonight we're going to need all the help we can get."

[ooc]When this started last night Joun said that we were just leaving the quarry when it occured, which means the timeline as I understand it would have us returning 40 min to an hour after the scream so I'm basing at least a little of my attitude on that, along with the oh so eloquent point in fact, that Tony hasn't had any sleep and it's like 3AM when he was already coming off a short night[/ooc]

Trinal is by now well out of earshot.

[ooc- My actions were based on a timeline of having gone through about 3 rounds of being woken up, stumbling around trying to find the source of a noise and then being insulted. This is just me playing my character, though- don't think I'm actually angry in RL or anything]

Clarification of DM regarding timeline:

Scouting party was not within earshot of scream when it occurred but were on their way back from the quarry.

At camp. Scream happend. People were spooked and searched for clues (approx 30 min). Towards the end of that searching Stavis and Tony returned.

It is currently 4:30am. Sunrise is 6:30am. It is still a light rain.

The perceived discrepancies are the result of having to juggle two separate timelines then merge them back together over a forum when people respond at different times.

Gobo raises his voice to the crowd

"Gentlemen please. Let us finish this night. Clearly what happened has not continued. It is best we finish the rest in preparation for tomorrow. "

Gobo looks to the companion that has left

"Ham'mon can you seek our friend out to return? You can do so without being seen by the screamer out there. Convince him to return to our party?"

Gobo returns to his guard stance with a huff.

Assuming Ham'mon doesn't find anything, he lies down in a bush where he is well-hidden and goes back to sleep.

Syric will catch up to Trinal (ideally he wouldn't let him get too far away) and try to persuade them to wait until the day.

Syric at a jogging pace in the rain races after Trinal. It takes about 10 minutes, but you catch up with him and say your plea.

Trinal returns a bit later, following behind Syric. His face still a mask of fury, he quietly returns to the space under the wagon and tries to get some more rest.

[rolls dice behind the screen]
The sky lightens and the rain stopped. In the east a grey clouds break up and the hint of orange begin to push the night. Birds are chirping. The ground is muddy and those who slept under the wagons got some comfort, but still find most of the belongings muddy and wet.

It is 7am.

Syric tries to de-mud his belongings as best he can. He decides to try and forage for food again, hoping his luck will be better today. He investigates his surroundings while he is out.

Stavis hearing Syric leave to forage decides to help knowing a good meal for breakfast would be a great help for the moral of the group and having an extra set of eyes and hands would better the chances of achieving that.

Okay the PHB on foraging from a nature check basically says 1hr and a DC 15 gives the amount of food needed for 1 person. If you want more people fed it goes up at a rate of 2 per person (17 for 2, 19 for 3 etc etc).

On assisting skill checks. If a second person helps they only need to roll above a 10(after skill modifiers) to add +2 to the roll (maximum of +8 given this way).

If we assume Syric and Stavis rolled independently they would each fail. If we assume that Stavis rolled to assist Syric we would have a modified roll of 16 which is 1 person's worth of food.

I'll let you two decide which way it went.
