Syric takes a sip and feels a pleasant burn trickle down and warm his soul. With a smile to Bran he says "I'm not the most religious man, but I cannot deny your claim"

A thought re-enters his mellowing head, "Good sir, you've surely seen all sorts come through your doors, would you by chance ever come across script like this?" he asks as he removes his sword from his back and shows Bran the inscription. "I was told it could be from a warrior clan in the far west, but I'm losing hope that there is any truth to the story"

@Tony Plush

"She tells it differently so at this point I have a he said she said situation. And out of respect for the law, please refrain from referring to yourself by name every moment. One day someone with less a level head than me is going to hear that and pop you square in the mouth."

@Trindal

"It all happened so fast. I'm trying to remember but I can't remember if she had the dagger first or not. I mean she didn't come out with a dagger so that doesn't make sense. I do remember him threatening to strip her down and tie her up, but I can't remember when that happened." She goes back to crying.

@Syric

Bran looks at the inscription and squints at the detail. "Well I am not an expert on these things, so I'm afraid the best guess I have is the warrior clans of Brator Shaa. But that's only because they are the only western clan I've heard of."

Surprised, Syric finishes his drink in one swallow.

"Your guess is far more information than I've come across in quite a long time my friend. I'll take another one of these whiskey's as well, a minor celebration of sorts." said with a large grin.

"Even if I never find this script, it's much better to have a direction to aim for than meaninglessly wandering!"

In a soothing tone, Trinal says Hush, hush. It's all right. You're perfectly safe, and we're going to get to the bottom of this. You said you didn't know if she had the dagger 'first'. So the other lady DID have the dagger?

@Tony Plush and CSI Belholt

The sheriff says loudly. "Well we have insufficient evidence to sort out the claims at this time. I'm hauling you all in so we don't ajudicate justice in a back alley. I trust Tony Plush doesn't have a problem putting Tony Plush's hands into Tony Plush's restraints?" He says holding up a pair of elven rope cuffs.

He tosses a pair to Stavis and says "Cuff her." pointing to Rieunna.

"Trindal, you need to help the other two back to the station."

Aerda comes to.

Yes, of course. By the way, it's 'Trinal', there's no d in it, says Trinal without rancor, a small smile on his face.

He turns to the young lady he's been helping. We have to go to the station now. While we walk, please try to collect yourself, and remember everything you can about what happened, so we can get to the truth, and make sure that justice wins out.

Using Diplomacy to hopefully shore up that request, and applying my "Knack For Success" power to give myself a +4 to the diplomacy check:

Diplomacy check:

Total:33

Trinal, holding the young lady's elbow gently, leads her to the other young lady, who is recovering, and offers to help her to her feet.

[ooc: Sorry Jimer the sheriff was saying trinal I was messing up and got mixed up in my head]

Rieunna complies and holds out her hands. You slip on the elven cuffs which are a neat little contraption. It is kind of like a zip tie. The elven rop slides through holes and when the cuffs are secure you press a button which secures the whole thing. There is a release to it, but that requires a key.

"Tony Plush assures you sheriff that the cuffs are unnecessary. Tony Plush has cooperated fully with this investigation and will continue to do so without the need of any additional measures. As an additional token of Tony Plush's goodwill and faith in you and your office..." Tony unbuckles his sword belt and hands it to the sheriff "Tony Plush surrenders his weapon to you, thereby rendering the need for restraints unnecessary."

"Tony Plush will put on the restraints or Tony Plush will be guilty of disobeying the lawful instructions of the sheriff which is a crime in these parts." The Sheriff's tone is starting to show tones of annoyance.

With a flick of his wrist Tony plucks the restraints out of the sheriff's hands and puts them on himself, using a few tricks he's picked up over the years to keep them a little loose.

Acrobatics (escape artist) 19+9 = 28 total to make them appear secured but in fact are loose enough to escape easily if needed.

"As you requested sheriff, Tony Plush has put the restraints on Tony Plush."

Trinal helps Aerda to her feet, then looks to the young lady he was speaking to. Shall we, ladies?

After securing the restraint on Rieunna walks the both over to his cloak that had been under Aerda's head, draping in over his arm. "Miss are you all right? Would you by chance be able to shed some light on the what happened here? Though take your time there is no need in rushing things as long as we are able to get to the truth here."

Cagney and Lacy take the Swashbuckler of self branding and the ladies to the police station. Upon arrival the sheriff removes the restraints from both Rieunna and Tony and place them in the main interior holding cell. The other two women take seats on a bench near the wall. A deputy starts asking the women some questions.

A clock tower strikes midnight.

Turning to the junior detective squad the sheriff says, "Boys, you two have been a big help, but it is getting rather late. If you want to take off and get some shut eye, I think I can sort this out from here."

I also would like to see what transpires, as my companion is apparently accused of something, which, although I haven't known him long, seems wildly out of character for him.

Very well.

Trinal prepares to leave with Syric.

Joun, I'd like to make an insight check; is the sheriff on the level or is he in some way hiding something? It seems strange to deputize two strangers for a ride-along, then send them enfrocked with police authority alone, only shortly after meeting them, and, well- all this just seems strange.
