Unless some hotties show up later in the evening I will drink, carouse and gamble as I have been, take the information I currently have and am content to skip ahead to tomorrow.

@Tony Plush

Three comely women walk into the bar. Two half elves and a eladrin. They are giggling as they plop down on a bench and signal for some fortified wine.

@ Trinal (maybe Stavis) Sheriff Fastter (Pronounce foss to rhyme with ross, +ter) leads you two out the door and to a pen on the back of the building. It is an outdoor holding pen that one of the deputies is wiping the walls down. "Today is thursday night. Thursdays start the weekend for some as we start to see our weekly swell from farmers and merchants coming into town for the big market days on the weekends. This is our drunk tank. We have it out of doors so their vomit doesn't stink up our office, and we find the fresh air tends to do them something good. We don't give them blankets this time of year, and usually just keep em til morning, by which time we let em go. Now if you could help sweep the floor there and make sure all the twigs and acorns etc are out of the cage. Deputy would much appreciate it. In a bit we can start our walk."

Trinal laughs loudly and good-naturedly. "Never a dull moment!"

Smiling at the deputy, he starts helping the deputy sweep, chuckling all the while.

Stavis greets the deputy in passing "Good evening deputy" before starting to go around picking up anything too large to easily sweep depositing out side the cage.

@ Starksy and Hutch It takes about 20 minutes to get the holding pen properly cleaned to the specifications of the Sheriff. He then asks the deputy who was workign with you if he would be fine to man the main room tonight. He does, and the Sheriff leads you into the office to grab you each a black cloak with a crest on the shoulder indicating that you are serving the sheriff in an official capacity. "Now tonight you guys are my deputies. You won't get paid for this since you are just walking with me tonight. But people will see the cloaks, and they'll respect them. I expect that if I ask you to do something, that you will do it. Any danger we meet might injure you if you are not properly prepared. I trust you two know how to handle yourselfs in a scrape?"

Hello nurse!!!

I will continue on for a little bit drinking and carousing and get a little closer to their table and listen in to their conversation for a few moments before making my approach.

Trinal nods sagely. Indeed. Let's hope it's not necessary to test, but I believe we can handle ourselves as need be.

The tavern is pretty loud at this point. You'd have to be knocked out on a lemon distilled spirit to sleep through it so listening in. One of the half elves looks at you from time to time, smiles and giggles. The other two seem to be paying attention to a merchant at another table.

@Starsky and Hutch

"Now I like to begin the evening walking up and down the promenade to do a visual inspection of the buildings and assess whether they have evening activities. You can already hear the Mighty Elk, but it is important to make sure to get a sense of what others are up to. It is a bit early still for the Mighty Elk to warrant our attention, but we will stop by soon enough as the ale takes hold for sure." He starts a walk towards the Baron's manor in an almost professorial manner. He may be a hardass you think, but he does enjoy showing what he does.

After a few moments and once I'm secure in the knowledge that one of them has taste I'll swagger over to their table and introduce myself...

"Ladies, Tony Plush, professional gentleman of leasure at your service. What brings you to this fine establishment this evening?" I say punctuated with a bow and a flourish of my cloak

They giggle at your approach. The one that was smiling at you pats teh bench next to her and invites you to sit down. "My names Aerda, and this is my sister Wytierne [referencing the other half elf]. And this is our cousin visiting. Her name is Rieunna [referencing the eladrin]. We thought we'd come check out the tavern before heading back to our barn to drink some of my uncle's spring brew. He gave us a barrel. It is really delicious!"

@ Starksy and Hutch

The walk takes you past the Baron's manner. The Sheriff asks the guardsman a few simple questions about the evening. The Baron is in for the night as best the guard knows. No parties to speak of, just family in the residence at this time. It has been quiet, and the turn of weather to be a bit warmer will do nicely for the market this weekend.

The walk resumes.

"So where are you two from?" The sheriff asks as you start a stroll towards a small barracks which are down the road.

I'm from a tiny little place called Thurwood, a good distance west of here. My family still lives there, but I wanted to do more than farm or hunt in he forest my whole life.

@Starsky and Hutch

"That's true." He says as you near the barracks front door. It is a simple longhouse. The door is locked and no lights are on. The sheriff takes pause to look down each street at the intersection "I don't have a problem with drow, but I can see why some people might." He looks at Trindal. "So left your family to strike it big. What's the plan youngin'?"

@Furiel At the mighty elk a pretty human woman and a man on a lyre start performing some songs. They are slow ballads talking about lovers who fell into the sea. The sights that the saw as they fell to the depths of the oceans and into a merman's kingdom.

"I don't have a specific plan, but once I began showing my abilities-" here he lifts his staff and raises his eyebrows expressively, "It was clear that I'd have to seek my fortune in the wider world. My main hope is to have fun, make some coin, and maybe a mark on the world."

"And yourself, Sheriff? Are you from this town or did you come here for the quiet?"

Trinal is paying very close attention to the patrol, the sheriff and the sights as we go, but trying not to make it TOO obvious. I'll include a couple of pre-emptive checks, use as you see fit.

@Police Academy 19: Centaurs on Patrol

Trinal your perception and insight are noted.

"I grew up in a village much like this one, west over the mountains, closer to Waterdeep. I was the sixth son of a tailor actually. I didn't want to be in the family business, so when war broke out 50 years ago I enlisted much to my father's objections. But I was of age, and he couldn't stop me. Anyway I traveled far for the King, and fought tieflings and orcs which had formed an alliance down south. The battles were intense and some days I simply wept for I had forgotten my mother's face and feared I'd never see her again. After the capture of Al'Azator, I was given a choice to become an officer in an infantry division, or retire with honors. Having seen the horrors of war, I didn't want that life. I traveled back to my parent's but my father had passed an my mother ailed. My elder brother took over the loomshop, but I couldn't work there. After my mother died, I went east, over the mountains looking to join the rumors of gold in a town maybe 20 leagues north of here. That town turned out to be a fool's errand. The mines were dry, and a pair of stone giants destroyed the town for drilling into their precious mountains. I traveled south with some of the refugees. This town's sheriff saw me passing through and asked me to help patrol for a big fair in the summer. I fell in love with the town and a maiden, and settled."

You continue to follow him as he marches towards the bridge that crosses a creek.
