@Stavis
"Instead of an escrow held by the sheriff or towns person of your choice, you'd prefer 120g upfront as expenses?" He pauses. "I'm a bit leery of that arrangement, but if you gentleman take the job, I'll agree."

@Gobo
Brago smiles at your words. "Thank you. You truly fill the legends of your people well."

Party Vote time:

Are you taking Brago Truque's job offer?
Initial payout as negotiated by Stavis: 120g to the party (20g per party member)
Quest objectives:
1) destroy Heppil's forge to prevent future marking of Brago's goods.
2) Recover stolen goods

Payout:
1,080g (180g per person) + 10g per crate (dived among party people, who shall henceforth put their hands in the air and wave them in a manner which indicates lack of care)

Incidental: In the event of trouble with the law while completing this mission, Master Brago Truque will use his resources and good reputation towards your defense to the best of his ability.
Do you take yay or nay?

Gobo- Agreed (confirmed via IM)
Hammon-
Stavis- Agreed
Syric- Agreed
Tony-
Trinal-Agreed

Stavis looks back at Tony holding his hands up in slight surrender "You are quite right in your assessment of our companionship and should have chosen my words more carefully." Looks to Brago with his hand held hight "You can count me in good sir, and be assured I will do everything in my power to see this fiend stopped one way or another and all goods capable returned."

Looks over the group "Should someone be willing to procure the wagons necessary for this adventure, can take my share to use in their collection."

Trinal looks thoughtfully at Brago, and says "I am definitely interested. Hopefully we can avoid the necessity of dealing out death."

Ham'mon turns his cup upside down, as it is now empty.

"Is there more? I never agree to do business on less than two mugs of ale - or a flagon of wine, if you have it."

"One businessman to another Mr. Truque I'm sure you can appreciate the need to make a small investment in our partnership to get it off the ground. After all, as you have a reputation to uphold Tony Plush has one as well. As a professional gentleman of leasure it would hardly due for me to start entering into bargains that I could not fullfill. To do so would sully my reputation and quickly put me out of bussiness and that would not do. I assure you, this small investment you are making in us will pay out with interest for you."

Tony stops to refill his glass and takes a long pull...

"Mmmm this is some good stuff. Is it local?"

So a majority have agreed. I honestly cannot tell if Ham'mon is agreeing or holding out, and it does appear to me that Furiel still is negotiating. I'm probably wrong. When I call for a party vote you need to be clear about what you are doing or dreadful misunderstandings could occur.

That said, Brago Truque lays out a map that shows the county. The town of Belholt is in the center of the map and there are several roads. Out west is a road called Koenig which goes to an old quarry. Brago Truque indicates that the hideout and furnace are there per his intelligence. He offers you guys four wagons to ride out there which will be ready in the morning with a horse team each. He goes to his other room and comes back with the 120g and lays it on the table for you guys to divide.

Sighing upon the realization that no more ale is forthcoming to his seat, Ham'mon gets up from his seat, walks to the table, takes the bottle or flagon of whatever Tony Plush is drinking and pours a measure into his cup.

"I swear by Pelor and his radiant...[mumble mumble mumble]...[sip]...[raised eyebrow]...this is very good. You shall have your vengeance."

Tony starts chuckling and shaking his head at Syric.

"So Tony Plush negotiates an advance on our payment so on the unlikely event the client were to attempt to stiff us on our payment upon successful completion of our task we don't walk away empty handed and now you think I'm not interested. Yes, Tony Plush is a businessman because Tony Plush is a professional, unlike you who appears to aspire to be nothing more than a hired thug."

and in a movement faster than your eyes can follow Tony Plush's rapier appears in his hand as if almost by magic, he salutes our host and then with a flourish he places it back in it's scabbard

"Lesson number one son, muscle will only get you so far in this business. So, with that said shall we start developing a plan for our approach or do you just want to tromp up to their door and wing it. Tony Plush is sure that would end well..."

Brago Truque is able to answer questions as you plan your work. Otherwise I'll let you guys banter ideas and formulate a plan that at least a majority agree upon before I as DM go down that road.

Stavis looks over that map as the explains are given, looking up to Tony as he makes his statement before looking back at the map saying

"Well seeing as I had expected it to take most of the day to procure the wagons and get ourselves to the location for a night raid." Nodding his head and extending his hand in thanks to Brago "Our over generous client having just supplied those and will presumable want us to make haste at the earliest to ensure collection of the maximum possible, we could do just that." a grin begins forming on his face "We have a group posing as buyers, with a second group that will sneak up as close as possible, attacking either after a predetermined amount of time, at a moment of opportunity, or when the first team signals."

Having remembered what company he is with the grin is suddenly gone. "That is unless someone else comes up with a better idea."

Brago speaks up "Wel if Heppil is marking, he is intending to try an unload them under some other smithing or provisions concern with intent to sell directly to a baro. Or perhaps the earl. If they are unmarked then they are be repurposed to general sale."

Ham'mon finishes his cup.

"Si ornla majak sia zulf cukra ihk voga tikp di nomeno."

He licks his lips and smacks them.

"Or we simply stake out the blacksmith's shop. According to Master Truque, the dwarf usually steals from there. All we have to do is catch him in the act, or follow him from there to his hidey-hole and then take him and his companions unawares."

Ham'mon considers the empty cavern of his cup.

"Do you have anything sour?"

Brago leaves the room. Several minutes later and hands Ham'mon a jug. "Fermented lemons, run through a still. Pretty strong so best to cut with water." He points to a water jug on a table with small glasses. "The stake out is contingent on him stealing again. It he is planning on selling to the baron or earl, they collect goods in a week, not giving him enough time to mark the goods."

"You are too kind friend."

Ham'mon moves to the jug of water and the cups and pours water to almost completely fill one cup.

"Perhaps lying in wait won't work with their timetable then."

Ham'mon then fills a completely different cup with the lemonrum and drinks that.
