Droid Incredible vs Droid X - FIGHT!!
Ah I see now. They've partially rooted them but they still don't have all the capabilities other rooted phones have. I'm sure if they've made it this far they'll have em fully rooted in no time.
Re: Droid Incredible vs Droid X - FIGHT!!
Rooting a phone and loading custom ROMs/software are two COMPLETELY different things.
The X is completely rooted but the ability to load your own software is a ways off.

Whee -- won't matter in a couple weeks anyway -- 3/4 Droids are getting 2.2 by August 14th.

Re: Droid Incredible vs Droid X - FIGHT!!
I've been thinking about it some more. Get the X. The Inc is a great piece of hardware, great UI and once Froyo comes out it'll be freaking sweet. But the biggest problem is that nobody is making accessories for it now that the Droid X is out. So if you want a desk cradle, a car dock or anything besides a freaking cord that charges it you should get the X. If I had a way, I'd trade it for an X.

Droid2 launched today and the R2-D2 Edition is out next month.

Considering that I don't have a droid yet...but may by the end of the day...I'm not too worried about obsolescence.
Droid X is up for bid in a charity auction at work right now. When I went to put in my bid they told me I couldn't bid that high on it because it was outside their increase parameters. It was at $50 when I went to bid and I planned to bid $195, 5 less than the retail price. I currently own the top bid at $150, but the auction goes another 2 hours and I can't monitor it anymore.

Re: Droid Incredible vs Droid X - FIGHT!!
I wish I knew but to this point I have heard nothing, which makes me think I did not. The kicker is that I'm assuming in an effort to raise more money this so called "silent" auction had the high bids being emailed out every 30 minutes or so, so 20 minutes before it closed an email was sent out saying it was still at 150, which is 50 less than retail, and since I work in a different building there was/is no way for me to prevent someone from sniper bidding me at the end...which I bet happened. So now I just wait to see who got it for $155...Vespasian wrote:Did you win or what?Furiel wrote:Considering that I don't have a droid yet...but may by the end of the day...I'm not too worried about obsolescence.

Re: Droid Incredible vs Droid X - FIGHT!!
Well if you still really want a Droid X you can buy one on Amazon for 180. Not too much more than 155.

It's not confirmed that this is the final design, but I imagine it's close. Really though, what did you expect it to look like? A picture of R2 on the phone? This is totally in line with what I expect(ed).Dood wrote:I ftotally agree. I was all excited about the R2D2 edition until I saw the photo. I think the expectation was to take design cues from R2, like say colors and sounds...but not a literal picture of R2 wrapping the whole thing.

And as for final design or not, if you actually look at the R2-D2 website for verizon http://www.droiddoes.com/r2d2/ you can actually see the image of this droid in the upper left hand corner. So fairly certain it is final final final.

Re: Droid Incredible vs Droid X - FIGHT!!
ok, funky R2 graphics asside, how would you rank the Droid2 with teh incredible and the X? It looks like it has a better battery life.
I was looking at the DroidX, but I don't like the way the camera sticks out of the front of the phone That wedge shape looks like it would crack if I accidently stepped on it.

Re: Droid Incredible vs Droid X - FIGHT!!
I would say this....All the cameras on all the droids are funky. That wont be much of a factor once you own the phone.Bulwark wrote:ok, funky R2 graphics asside, how would you rank the Droid2 with teh incredible and the X? It looks like it has a better battery life.

Battery life - X, Inc and D2 are all likely to give you similar experiences. You will probably get through 16 hours unfettered and the have a bit more for some phones.

Any phone will probably crack if stepped on.
And I found when holding the X that the lump didn't bother me at all. As Reese mentioned awhile back, the plastic on the back of the inc does make it feel kinda cheap and for me I found the increased screen size of the X to make it much easier to navigate the menus.
I have yet to put my hands on a D2 so I have no information of how it feels. It looks like I won't be updating until the end of Sep now so I'm not really researching for another month or so.

Re: Droid Incredible vs Droid X - FIGHT!!
Might also wanna look at Sense vs. Motoblur. Since the Droid X has come out, a lot of people traded it in for an HTC phone just because they didn't like motoblur and thought sense was better. I haven't used Motoblur, so I don't know what the problem with it is. Just another thing you might want to check out. The Samsung phones which came out about a month ago are pretty hot too, but since they're not Motorola they'll likely not be supported by vzw for longer than 6 months.
Re: Droid Incredible vs Droid X - FIGHT!!
Which is retarded since you can just load another home app and not have motoblur.Kitoshi wrote:Might also wanna look at Sense vs. Motoblur. Since the Droid X has come out, a lot of people traded it in for an HTC phone just because they didn't like motoblur.

Re: Droid Incredible vs Droid X - FIGHT!!
I picked up a droid2 this weekend and am enjoying it. It doesn't fell much different than the original droid, but the guts are a lot nicer. I'm still getting use to it and figuring out which apps I should download and which ones I should skip. I'm liking the flip out keyboard; much easies to type on than the screen. I also think its easier to type on than the first droid.
Re: Droid Incredible vs Droid X - FIGHT!!
The keyboard on the Droid2 is lightyears better than the D1. I was in Best Buy playing around with a D2 and was amazed at how much better it was. Made me a little sad that I still have my D1, but I've gotten used to the on-screen keyboard.Bulwark wrote:I picked up a droid2 this weekend and am enjoying it. As far as must-have apps, I'm all about Settings Profile for doing things like "put my phone on vibrate when I get close to work M-Th between 6 am and 6 pm" or "Turn on WiFi when I get close to home, and if I'm home and it's after 10pm on a school night, no sounds unless it's a call from work."

Re: Droid Incredible vs Droid X - FIGHT!!
This is also, quite true. Apps like LauncherPro are awesome. I'm just too cheap to break down and buy them and I don't want to use an app without all of its features.Dood wrote:Which is retarded since you can just load another home app and not have motoblur.Kitoshi wrote:Might also wanna look at Sense vs. Motoblur. Anyone keep up with the DX community? Can you load custom roms yet? If so then don't let the UI hold you back. I just know that a lot of DX peeps have switched to the Inc solely because of motoblur, even though it's easy to get around.
Re: Droid Incredible vs Droid X - FIGHT!!
D2 root is out now.
I really wish there was a data-only plan with a decent VOIP app. I don't make many calls at all but do IM/Txt enough. The G2 looks promising, but I'm really curious about the dual-core models coming this fall.
