"Well if we are going with a nighttime assault Tony Plush believes tactically our best approach is going to be to take Stavis's suggestion and build off that. We approach from the southeast, Stavis and Tony Plush will circle around to the north and trigger the trap there. We will then circle back around toward the group while the dwarves are coming out to investigate. Once the dwarves are away from the forge the rest of the group can approach from the south using the warehouse as cover between them and both the dwarves and the forge. The group circles around the back of the warehouse then as soon as they get to the alley between the warehouse and forge we rush the forge door and take them by surprise."

Syric nods at the businessman, "Its as good a plan as any, though I have two questions. How many traps did you see on the path you suggest the main group take and do you think you and Stavis can trip more than one trap on the North side?"
Spoiler:
Re: Let's Play Dungeons and Dragons: Alvis edition! (Game th
"We could try to trip more then one but risk showing movement rather then a normal trap to investigate. Though one thing that could be done is use the small barrel of ale in the trap as a lure to delay the dwarfs at the trap to retrieve it, possibly to keep the dwarfs at the trap or encumber them should they just take the ale. Worse comes to worse they don't take the bait leaving the ale and not much changes with the plan."
Re: Let's Play Dungeons and Dragons: Alvis edition! (Game th
"We encountered one trap in the area that Tony Plush is proposing we use for the main portion of our forces. He and Stavis can show you all where it is when we approach so you can get a feel for what they look like in case there are more we did not locate. As to your second query, we could trip more than one yes, however as Stavis pointed out that would likely tip them off to an attack rather than draw more of them out. When the dwarves came out last night they were discussing what animal might have tripped the trap. So if we feed them what they expect that makes it that much more likely for them to go for the ruse. In fact instead of a cask of ale in the trap perhaps we should spend some time hunting today and see if we can bring in some bigger game, we could then throw that in the trap to trigger it and the dwarves that come out to investigate will then likely make an attempt to recover the carcass, further delaying their return and adding to our window to make our approach unnoticed."

Only that aside from the sappers, we should consider placement as we move in, to maximize our efficiency. I, for example, am not best when right in front of someone attempting to cramp my style with a knife betwixt the shoulder blades.

"Tony Plush is an excellent duelist. Unlike Gobbo who stands there in his big armor and big sword taking and dishing out a beating Tony Plush will stand in the front and uses his lightning quickness and agility to dodge their attacks and make pinpoint, lethal strikes to our foes."

"Well, if no one has any further questions or alternative plan suggestions I think we should probably get a couple people out hunting. Anyone have any particular skill there, Tony Plush does not. For those of us who are staying behind I suggest we nap in shifts and continue keeping a watch so we are sure to be sharp for tonight."

"Well we have a lot of daylight ahead of us, I think I'll try to help with the hunt." Syric pauses, deep in thought, "First I need some time to pray to Melora, I fear I have wandered too far from my roots and she is letting me know this."
If/when there is no more talk, Syric will walk into the forest a ways to look for a quiet place to sit, a large stone or a tree stump. He will soak in the natural beauty of his surroundings as he speaks to the god of his mother's people, asking forgiveness for his lapse in attention. Once he feels a bit more centered, he will either join the others in hunting or go off on his own.

@Syric nature roll. As you come out of your prayer/meditation/elf pity party you notice elk tracks. Adult, probably a female, headed to west by southwest.

Is that because elk are social animals that travel in single sex groups, and you don't want to be trampled?Whiteness wrote:Syric gives his thanks to Melora.

Typo in the original/ You guys are in a known elk hunting ground, Bran's tavern was called the Mighty Elk. Yuo are clearly in Elk country!
Now can anyone find some rules on swarms of elk? No reason.

Inwardly, Syric is concerned. He knows Elk travel usually travel in large groups, but so far they've only seen tracks. If this land has been overhunted and overused by greedy people then perhaps that is why Melora did not shine her grace upon his earlier foraging attempts. He takes a moment for another quick prayer to promise they are not here to abuse the forest's gifts. He asks for her help and guidance in their attempt to remove the nearby forge and possibly one of the causes of the forest's pain.
