"They will try to stop us. That will likely involve trying to ram us, board us, or set us on fire. I wouldn't be surprised if they weren't preparing a second ship as we speak, since these type of boats usually hunt in groups." Vlad adds.

"Perhaps we can take advantage of their greater speed then. If we dash for the island, they'll try to ram us broadside. If we time it right and slow down rapidly once they commit, they'll be forced to either pass in front of us or change course, and that will slow them down."

OOC:
Spoiler:
Storytime. A few years ago I was playing a D&D-like game where we were all sailors. We got into a dustup with another ship and after blowing a hole in their side we boarded them. I was the captain and when we stormed aboard I said to the DM, "I look around and shout 'WHO'S IN CHARGE HERE?'". He replied "A huge bald guy with more fingers than teeth snarls at you and says 'I AM'." I responded "I shoot him in the face and shout 'WHO'S IN CHARGE HERE?'"

He didn't even make me roll. He just laughed his ass off for a good 30 seconds and said "OK, one of the other guys says '... you are?'"

Trinal looks doubtful. "Not as such, I wouldn't think. One of them might do some damage to it, but I wouldn't think so. I can definitely set them afire from close range, or from further away cause havoc on their becks."

"Tony Plush approves of the island plan. We have to get there anyway to save the Duke's son and the faster we get there the sooner we take their water superiority out of play."

Trinal smiles. "You mean Tony and Trinal agree on something? My goodness, this is a red-letter day." He winks.

I gave the coordinates on Friday. I thought you didn't want us to move it?

Oh you can move it, I just wanted it to be clearly posted that is what happened so we don't exceed movement. Just a misunderstanding. I'll move both now.

Hero boat goes to )14
Enemy boat moves 4 squares.
A second boat is taking to the water to intercept.

Heroes move to L-11. I can't actually move any of the icons on the map, it won't let me drag them.

Heroes move to I-13.

OOC note- It's a little hard to plot movements when you can't take into account momentum and so forth, and when entire movements occur at once.

Edit: changed target location. Trying to avoid a ram from either ship.

Question- can we wait for them to make a run for a ram, then move?

I'm assuming they're trying to converge on us and I'd like to pause momentarily, wait for them to commit, then make a hard push to go west down the I row, and while they're getting turned around make a run for the island.

If it turns out that won't work, I'm planning to abandon the idea of making a run for the island and forcing them to chase us, which at their one-square advantage will keep them from damaging us with a ram, and allow us to chuck lots of nasties their way as they approach.

I will make sure they always move 4 squares and the last three will always be in a straight line. I think that will make it possible for you to dip dodge and dive and keep it interesting.

Good deal, thanks for the clarification.

OK, in that case we move to F-16.

Sorry, keep getting coordinates wrong.

I'm not planning to let them get close enough, if that makes any difference. I was going to turn and make for C-12, so unless they're going to stop us physically we're not going to be in range long.

maybe enough for one volley of fire back and forth, I dunno.

The northern one was able to move directly on top of you so it would be able to ram. The other is at ranged but not close enough to board.
