Re: LPDnD: Knocking on Heaven's Door
"Basically you will repay your second shot at living, as it were, by upholding to the best of your ability the seven cardinal virtues, in addition you will not reveal to mortals the existence of the Bureau, nor go into detail revealing the process of spiritual ascension post mortem." Marty says while leaning back in his chair.Whiteness wrote:Syric flips through the pages as he asks, "What exactly is the code of conduct of Bureau 17 operatives?..."

Re: LPDnD: Knocking on Heaven's Door
"Excellent. Please exit through that door..." he points to the door you came in from" on the other side will be Nicholas. He is your trainer and tester. He is responsible for making sure you know the virtues and vices of the moral spectrum. He will also test you to make sure your moral compass is aligned properly. Good luck gentleman and lady." Marty takes teh signed forms and begins organizing them into his cart and folders.
You walk through the door expecting the hallway you were whisked along before but instead find yourself in a study. The room is about 30 feet by 30 feet with two doors, many bookshelves with leather bound books, a large round table divided into a few sections with writing on it, a non luminated red glass ball in the center. A few leather chairs are around the room (not enough for the eight of you). There is a light blue bald man in a simple white jacket, shirt, and pants. His eyes don't have pupils or irises, they just are a uniform shade of light blue. He looks up from the book he is reading and motions the door closed behind you.
It shuts and you notice a small red glass orb on the door frame illuminate and the red ball on the table illuminates as well.
"Welcome." His voice is the calmest you have ever heard anyone ever speak. "My name is Nicholas. I suppose we have some work to begin."

Trinal nods politely and steps into the room, making sure he's not blocking the entrance or anything. He elects to remain standing.
He glances curiously at the writing on the table and the titles on the books.

@ Trinal:
The Titles of the Books are not anything you'd recognize, and the language of them seems to be Supernal if your memory is serving correctly.
The table itself is divided into five sections. Each has a verse on it that read as follows:

"At night they come without being fetched,
And by day they are lost without being stolen."
II
"I never was, am always to be,
No one ever saw me, nor ever will
And yet I am the confidence of all
To live and breathe on this terrestrial ball."
III
"Runs over fields and woods all day
Under the bed at night sits not alone,
With long tongue hanging out,
A-waiting for a bone."
IV
"The beginning of eternity
The end of time and space
The beginning of every end,
And the end of every place."
V
"There was a green house.
Inside the green house there was a white house
Inside the white house there was a red house.
Inside the red house there were lots of babies."

Re: LPDnD: Knocking on Heaven's Door
"Hello Nicholas. My name is Victae. We were told you'd be teaching us about the moral spectrum?"
"Ah yes. The moral spectrum. Growing up in the various houses of worship, you no doubt received education pertaining to the seven deadly vices. They may be modified slightly, but they essentially are Sloth, Wrath, Envy, Gluttony, Avarice, Lust, and Pride. On the flip side of that coin, and regrettably not nearly as championed are the seven eternal virtues. Fortitude, justice, temperance, prudence, faith love, and hope. All mortal activity has one or more of these 14 moral elements. For example if you see a friend's harvest was plentiful you might decided to find comfort in a few too many pints of ale. You had envy which transformed into gluttony. Or a loved one is killed by an unknown assailant, your love for the fallen drives you to have justice. However if your attempt is not patient you might slip into wrath. It goes on and on. What the Bureau has tasked me to do is make sure you exhibit behaviors promoting the virtues and minimizing the vices." Nicholas says standing up and looking out the window.

Re: LPDnD: Knocking on Heaven's Door
"As to your task, we are in the first test already. We are in a room, that is part of a house. The house sits on an island with a few other buildings. That table Trinal was looking at is your key to leaving this island through the door you entered. Feel free to wander the island for clues. I will answer questions about the moral spectrum, or other topics, except how to unlock the door beyond what I've said to this point." Nicholas says.

Looking out the window you see that you are on an island. It is morning, or afternoon. You don't have your bearings but the sun is in a position 1/4 up. The island isn't large, there are a few other buildings on it, and a garden.Maizan wrote:Interesting

"The segments of the table. They're riddles, or at least they read like them. I was just giving my thoughts on their answers."

"I think 'dog' is too literal of an answer if these are riddles...though the answer to the fourth is quite literal, so I may be wrong. Mother used to like riddles and told me it when she was helping me learn Common so long ago...the answer is 'E'"

"Heh, well spotted. Interesting." Trinal walks over and attempts to open the door. "Why not try the direct approach first?"
