Re: LPDnD: Life in a Northern Town
Vlad starts his series of shouts. The boat pulls away from the port and as you see the port about 1,000yds away he starts to pull the square sail down. The wind causes it to billow and the ship really starts to get some speed.
"Fortune favors us! The wind is pretty much headed more or less where we wish to go right now. Pull your oars in. Viggo can steer." Vlad says.
The boat glides smoothly through the water and rises against waves as it cuts south.
The boat ride takes maybe an hour or hour and a half. Vlad tells you the stories of his training officer who was a real hardass and some of the pranks Vlad and the other soldiers would play on him in retaliation.
As you come into the first seafort you see a small rock island with a stone building in a semiruinous state occupying the majority of the island. There is a dock. Vlad rigs up the sail and you all help guide the ship to the dock. Your boat is the only vessel on the dock and there are no signs of life other than a few birds cawing nearby.
"Well here we are. Let me know when you are ready to go check out the next one." Vlad says as he coils some rope.

Stavis will get out and begin searching for any signs of others having been here recently, raiders or otherwise.

Stavis hops off the boat and starts looking at the dock for recent signs of people visiting. The dock doesn't show much signs you can figure one way of the other. Any rope on the dock you find looks to have been there a very long time.

Trinal inspects the bollards or tie-up spots to see if they appear to have been used recently- surface wear, etc.

"Seems fairly quiet. Vlad, Viggo- are you staying with the boat or coming with us?" Trinal asks as he clambers out.

Spintik will climb out and arm himself. He will then scan the area looking for threats.

Re: LPDnD: Life in a Northern Town
Viggo seems to have not heard your question, though you suspect that might be intentional.
Vlad answers, "I was going to stay with the boat, but if you guys want us I suppose we could come with even if I need to yank someone by his ear. Our orders are to assist you in your reconnaissance, so just give us orders and we will comply. "

Exterior of the building is in disrepair. These buildings must be hundreds of years old. The biggest threat you can tell is a tie between catching a cold from the sea air with a light drizzle and a seagull that is eyeing you aggressively.Maizan wrote:Spintik will climb out and arm himself. "It's fine if you stay with the boat, but thank you." Trinal smiles at Vlad. "Probably best to leave someone to keep it safe in any case."
Once everyone is ready and loins are girded, we should approach the place cautiously.

Having followed Trinal out of the boat, Syric opines "If Mumford is looking to relocate to a seafort, I don't think he'd be choosing this one. Let's take a quick look and get on to the next one."

"For a permanent housing yes, though could still be a temporary base or even a cache location."
Stavis will then inspect inside 3 of the closer buildings to see if there are any signs of recent activity or storing of goods.

Re: LPDnD: Life in a Northern Town
The building is a squat fort looking building. The building is in disrepair and you find a few bird's nests sheltering from the wind. The place has no signs of human activity.

Re: LPDnD: Life in a Northern Town
With oars in teh water you guys get a vigorous workout having to work partially against the wind. Mid afternoon you see another sea fort on the horizon with what appears to be two boats (probably about your ship size) going towards it.

When Stavis notices or others bring it to his attention, Stavis will ask while looking for any signs himself on if they are friendly or possibly the raiders. "Are those boats friendlies or are they raiders?"
