The first clerk (cranky blue old lady)

"Listen boy, I've had this job since before your world was made, and I'll be here well after it is gone. I've seen people waltz through here who were kings, queens, demigods, and paupers. The one thing they all got was a form. To fill out. And return. So please have your friend fill out his form and return it so we can move on."

"Bitch, I died today, so if you think you can even slightly intimidate me, game on, because I've got ***-all to lose. Now apologize to my friend."

Intimidation check (d20+5, spending my knack for success to get a +4 also): 13+5+4=22.

[ooc- Trinal really doesn't think there's anything to lose here, but he's for damn sure not going to let some random afterlife hag insult his friend after what they just went through.]

Note: I just sent out XP parcels, everyone should level up to 5. This means when doing your character sheet add +1 to two different score, get a feat, and a daily. If you want to redo your powers that is fine as well (Furiel, Villain's menace or whatever you were complaining about). Also any bonuses you got from items are gone. Don't worry you'll get some new toys soon enough.

Stavis will get up and look to Trinal "It is ok." and will walk over to take a form. "Unless you are to be relived of your duties from time to time I would think you would never leave as there must be a near content supply of newly deceased and as such my staying here would have little impact either way." after taking one will go back to his chair but will not immediately start filling it out.

"Oh this isn't hell. And aren't you a flirty one. I'll have you know that my mother wouldn't approve unless you were pureblood Klantorth." She smiles starting to look over your form.
"Only doing things that are approved is rather boring. The best stories always come from breaking the rules..." Tony says with a wink

"There will be a lot of surprise and disappointment if you don't." Tony says with a smile and he saunters over to the designated waiting area

Trinal simply hands in the form, but doesn't fill out much information beyond the most basic. Basically name, rank serial number stuff.

Question: Do we FEEL different? Dead?

Well before you were in this waiting room you were in that river which to most people has a calming and soothing effect. It has the property to wash away anxiety and fear associated with death. As for the moment you feel normal, except you aren't hungry, aren't thirsty, feel none of the pain you'd expect after this:

Image

You notice that you don't have any scars you've gotten in say the last 5 years. You feel remarkably well rested. Objects in the room are tangible to you, you can lift things and a wall will stop you.

So do you feel dead? Not particularly. Do you feel alive, except the hunger and thirst thing being absent, sure.

After what seems like an eternity (after Gobo, Spintik, and Stavis fill out their forms and turn them in) a human looking man comes in from a side door with a clipboard.

"I'm looking for Gobo Fraggle, Ham'mon Aueghs, Arlen Dorian, Victae Meneldur, Trinal Katorm, and I got three names here with no last name Spintik, Syric and Stavis. If you can come with me that would be great."

He holds the door open inviting you to the back rooms of the office.

Trinal raises his eyebrows, then looks at the group.

"This should be entertaining, at the very least." He walks over to the guy.

When Stavis had filled out the forms had used his full name along with Stavis as a known alias had bit confused as to why he had done that. Though at the time had chalked it up to the peacefully surroundings or some force that had required the forms be filled out truthfully. So as Stavis gets up and walks past the man holding the door will thank him for only using Stavis.

Victae stands up and follows.

The group is led through a labyrinth of back office hallways, doorways, and intersections. Various people scoot by you as you make your way and you see all manner of humanoid and sentient creature types. Some you recognize like humans, dwarves, elves, and some you don't. Some overheard conversations you can understand, some are in languages you recognize as a language you don't speak, but some are completely foreign and unknown to you.

Finally you are led into a white room with no apparent light source, but it is bright. There is a large circular wood table in simple design and simple wooden chairs. Essentially it is like you are in an apple store.

He motions you to sit and leaves.

Moments later a different man comes in pushing a cart. He is wearing a nice blue robe and has a big grin on his face.

"Well it certainly is a pleasure to meet you folks. I hope you're doing fine. Allow me to introduce myself, my name is Martimus Altocius, but you can call me Marty. I'm here to go over the permanent record with you folks, answer any questions you might have, and make sure you guys are ready to move onto the next stage at the bureau. So let's start with a simple Q &A.What's on your minds?" He starts taking old leather bound books off the cart and putting them on the table near where he is going to sit and places a notebook there and a pen. You notice the binding on the books has the various people's names on it.

"Oh not much, just a few obvious questions like where are we? Why are we here? Is the clerk that Tony Plush was flirting with single? Why does the afterlife have so much paperwork? Let's start there..."

Trinal stirs. "If I had to guess, Tony..." he gazes shrewdly at Marty, "that the 'paperwork' and bureaucracy is more metaphor than anything else, allowing us to make sense of what would otherwise be a totally incomprehensible experience. I think a better question, however, is why this is so much different than anything we have ever been led to believe would occur?"
