Before Saturday I need to run a HM FP

Post by Blackferne » Wed Feb 22, 2012 4:38 pm

I'm pretty sure I'm almost ready to roll for this saturday's Op, but as my tanking at level has been spotty on the leveling front I do need to practice in a more controlled and challenging environment.

So thursday or friday anyone game? (probably 8pm CST start)

If friday I'll go at the listed time.
If thursday and closer to 8:30 or 9 I'll also go.

This.

Also only available on Friday. Thursday is date night and I don't reschedule date night when the event is going to Disneyland.

Unfortunately I do need 50s. My goal is not even to finish the instance, though I would love for that to happen, but rather to see how durable I am against high end mobs/bosses and my threat generation versus people I'd expect to see in a raid.

I'm also a tank, but I'd like to do this as well. I suppose I can DPS somewhat...

So...with us being 35 and 37, that's BETTER than 50! That's like, 72!

Every day I get closer to respecing heals until my sage hits 50...

I might be able to swing heals Thursday (tomorrow) night, but not Friday, with the caveat that I'll need a hard stop around 9:30-10 CST since I have an early morning. But if Furiel wants to respec for heals before then, that's cool. If not, I will confirm tonight and get back to you.

And I'm game for anything except Battle of Illum, which is only liable to make me crouch in fetal position and mumble incoherently.

How about Thursday Esselles HM 830 start time. Joun tanking, Furiel and Bulwark on DPS, and Dodd healing?

That works. Depending on the weather here I may be available earlier.

And I seriously think I'm going to respec heals temporarily, but I'm going to wait til after the raid Saturday. I know my rotation, etc so it'll be easier for me to concentrate on what's happening in the raid and lead it effectively if I'm not in an unfamiliar spec and role.

Plus that will give me some extra time to get a companion geared so I can still solo my dailies.

Due to the need for multiple interrupts on Ironfist's spamming of headshot we stopped Esselles. I just couldn't keep up and both Bulwark and Furiel lack interrupts. If you were there I think it could have been done in a simple interrupt rotation. So we went to the Koan under Seige (regular) and it went fine. A few wipes due to us mostly learning the mechanics, but nothing too severe. My threat generation seemed more than enough. I think my sturdiness is fine. I do need to work on the speed which interrupt and my ability to quickly pick up adds, but those were weak points in my tanking in WoW as well so I'm not that shocked.

Don't worry, soon you'll have a hundred and just one Tionese Commendation and still not be able to buy anything.

I was in a group of Unrepentant (one PuG, Damoven, but he's applied now since he runs at least one Op or HM a week with us) on Wed night and we finally beat EV... without a wipe. I managed to get 4 schematics, three of which I can't even use (wrong skill, and they're BoP so I can't even sell/trade them) and one that makes an item that's BoP and for force users... and I got it on my BH who HAS NO FORCE USING COMPANIONS TO USE THE DAMN THING! Though I did also get the Tier 3 Speeder drop and 2 each of the crafting mats, so it wasn't completely wasted. The loot tables are really borked and I'm hoping they make the schematics tradable, and more BoE items from them would be nice too. Getting useless schematics is a bit, well, useless.

Due to increment weather, I opted to work from home today...*cough* *cough* I pugged HM False Emperor with a bunch of guys needing a healer at lunch time. Never ran the Flashpoint before, and although I didn't know the boss fights, these guys seemed to have done this before. Like...a lot. We cleared it with only one wipe on Malgus. No good loot of note (mostly trooper gear and we had a Jedi Shadow tank), just some more Tionese and Columni tokens, and lots of crystals. Great Flashpoint, BTW.

Last night was fun, regardless. Joun's tanking skills are solid...I didn't drop much, only a few wipes here and there, and we picked up the fights pretty quickly at a team. Based on both experiences yesterday and today, I think the only way we'd get better is by doing a lot of the regular FPs, getting to know the fights/interrupts better, and also getting better gear. These guys at lunch today had a ton of HP (17-19K), which helps on the survivability side. I'm hoping we'll fare ok in the 8-man normal mode tomorrow night...

Knowing the fights is fine, and will help a ton, especially in the beginning, but gear is probably the most important factor. At 15k HP, Modro is considered "squishy", even for a Sorc Healer.

If you get past the first boss, you should be fine until Soa. Then it's a lot of hoping you don't get bugged.

15k is squishy? Is it because you are in light armor?

Joun currently has these stats self buffed (no stims in play):
HP: 15594
Damage Mitigation via armor: 49.73%
Avoidance(defense): 13.44%
Shield Chance: 52.13%
Shield Absorb: 39.32%

This equates to a total mitigation of 65.41% and an effective health of 31,020hp

I don't want to be a squishy tank!

That's for HMs though I assume since I know you guys have been hitting the HM raids from what you've said before. The damage is scaled down some in normal.

Right now by 2 biggest concerns for Saturday are making sure the droids don't eat the healers while we are taking down turret 1, and on the droid the tank surviving the missile salvo phase with no healing.

I've only done one Hard Mode EV (though we did attempt Karagga's that same run after skipping Soa, and failed (though we did get the boss to 2%)). They had serious concerns about my HP and I was 2500+ lower than anyone else in the group (though I've modified my stats a bit since then). Hard mode Flashpoints are a lot easier than normal Ops (generally).

I'm squishy partly because of the light armor (and lack of defense/shield), and partly because I was stacking too much Willpower compared to Endurance and had low HP as a result (though I could crit heal well over 7k)... I had nearly 400 more Willpower. I'm aiming to be at about 16k+ unbuffed. Tanks should aim for 19k+ unbuffed.

I'll try to remember to take some SS of my stats and stuff later on.

I am over 17k unbuffed now. A trooper Vanguard on our server named Amok, is at 23k health, and isn't in PvP gear, had Rakata and columi gear. I had Cuspar chase him down to inspect the gear.

I got my Rakata earpiece today. With my crafted Hyper Battle Fortitude Stim Prototype and my self buff, I'm just over 19k hp now (so I think it's about 18k even self-buffed). I CAN'T WAIT for tomorrow. I'm done grinding dailies on Cusp for a while - I gotta get the lootz that Amox has.

As you can see, this is unbuffed. It's a mix of PvP and PvE gear, but this is how I run PvE content. I actually lose HP with my PvP set, but gain ~100 Expertise, so it balances out.

The Gear:
Tionese Force-Master's Relay
(No database record found) Expert Nano-Optic Resolve System (Superior) - 50 End/62 Will/40 Pow/25 Crit/40 Surge/29 Alacrity
Rakata Stalker's Motivator
Rakata Force-Master's Bracers
Champion Relic of Forbidden Secrets (though I do have several various level 50 Relics)
Matrix Cube M7-R3
Champion Force-Master's Lightsaber (not sure what the crystal w/ extra stats is there for, it's not on my item in game)
(No database record found) Expert Hyperaccelerated Power Generator (Superior) - 48 End/60 Will/28 Acc/47 Pow/43 Crit/543 Force Power/47 Surge
Orange Boots: 126 Armor - 73 End/84 Will/27 Pow/27 Crit/39 Alacrity (all purple 51/50 mods)
Centurion Force-Mystic's Lower Robe
Rakata Force-Master's Sash
Tionese Force-Mystic's Gloves
Champion Force-Mystic Robe
Champion Force-Mystic Headgear

I REALLY can't wait until I can pull armoring out of the gear and build my own sets... both for the bonuses and the looks (I HATE how my armor looks).
