Jimer, we can't seem to be able to create new portals. Any ideas?

I checked the logs, there's no errors or messages at all about portals. I'll log in later and try to test out making one, see what happens.

I tested it and couldn't make a portal. I also noticed that when I placed a door it didn't make the characteristic "thunk" sound that it should when placing one. Can you guys verify the same thing?

It makes me think there may be a bug in the current version of Bukkit that's not firing an event when a door is placed. The bukkit issue tracker has nothing on it, but I'll look into the diffs from pre-1.7.9 and see if I can figure out what's going on.

If it is a Bukkit bug, we can roll back but that means losing the changes since yesterday's update. The existing portals work and once that issue with Bukkit is sorted out we should be able to make new ones.

No, I agree with no rollback. We may have to deal without being able to make new portals for a little while, but that's not a major problem. In an absolute worst case scenario I'll write my own version of a portal plugin.

Irony that a railroad project worker like yourself is such a fan of teleporters.

Yeah, the portals are great but they do come with a tradeoff that we don't use as much "traditional" transportation like roads and rails.

That said, teleporters make things like the UFO and my Sky Island easier to work on. I would hate to have to swim up or take a ladder up there every time I needed to do something.

I do underground rails all the time. Almost prefer when I want it to be more complicated, though I do tend to use a train borer from railcraft.

I need to go back through and do stuff to it, I just NEED to find a good endpoint. I think every 500m or 1km I would do something like expanding the tunnel and adding lights or decorations (it'd double as a sort of mile marker system as well).

If there are any suggestions for points of interest to connect, I'd be happy to try and connect them, it just seems that most stuff is either right in town or way too far.
