There is a portal in the subway station that leads to the jungle.

More Screenshots!

I installed a shader mod and a really awesome shader pack and resource pack. Here's some screenshots with it. Right-click each one to view it in its own tab because most are cut off by the spoiler tags.

That looks amazing! what is the shader mod and resource pack you are using? Also, what is that big swirly thing in some of the pics?

I know, right? These shaders are incredible.

Here's the links to get yours if you want to update to use them. WARNING: The shader mod, the shader pack and the resource pack will require a LOT of RAM and you must have a really good video card. I'm using an AMD Radeon 6900 HD with 2 GB of RAM. Your video card should be as good or better than that, or you'll probably have problems.

That being said:

Karyonix's Shader Mod

First, get Karyonix's Shader mod. Which is itself a mod of a mod (we need to go deeper!)

http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/154 ... -karyonix/

The download links are here. Warning, they use Adfly, so gird your popup blockers. You'll want to get the JAR file for Minecraft 1.7.5. Follow the instructions, especially if you're already using mods like Forge. The installation itself is pretty simple; you run the JAR file and it patches your Minecraft installation with a new profile.

SonicEther's Unbelievable Shaders (SEUS)

Next, get SonicEther's shader pack: http://sonicether.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=168

You'll want to download the shaders into your .minecraft/shaderpacks folder. The final path should be something like %appdata%\Roaming\.minecraft\shaderpacks\SonicEther's Shaders and in that folder should be a folder called "shaders", which will contain a ton of FSH and VSH files.

Testing

Fire up Minecraft. You should have a new profile that says "Shaders" in the name. Start up the Minecraft client. In the options menu you'll see a new button called "Shaders" Click that, turn off clouds and turn on the block damage tweak. Then select the SEUS shaderpack (the left side will say "none, internal (somename)" where (somename) is the folder you put the SEUS shaders into).

ChromaHills Resource Pack (Optional)

This is optional, but is a fun texture pack with full support for SEUS and the GLSL shader mod. http://www.chromahills.com/forum/downloads.php

Enjoy!

You certainly don't have to. If you want to have visuals like the screenshots above you can use the shader mod, but it's totally optional.

Oh, and the swirly thing is from the particle effects of the buffs the beacon provides, which can appear in the screenshots.

Is there a way to reload to a point in time? Ie after death. Last night I was mining and found a cool lava cavern. A not so friendly guy with a bow shot me in the back and sent me face first into a deep pool of lava. When I went back the bow man was there and my stuff was not.

Sure, I know they're optional but I wasn't sure if there were any I "should" be using. I'm not sure if my video card can handle the shader.

You can use the /back command to return to your point of death. But there's no way to go back in time. If you die your stuff drops, but if it drops into lava it burns up. :(

Unfortunately I have noticed my stuff that drops does not last long. I have gone /back to death spots after waiting a bit for the mobs to wander away and there is no stuff there. :(

If the chunk unloads items will go away, so it's best to get back ASAP if you dropped something important.

This morning Zoe was exploring the forest where I found the dogs (WAY WAY NE part of the map) and she is prone to making tiny houses. Well she made a bed with a block too close and suffocated to death when waking up and instead of back did /home like I had taught her. Lost all she had (watermelon seeds, her iron armor etc. so tonight time to make more.

amusing anecdote over!

Aw, poor Zoe. I hope she wasn't too unhappy about it.

She's getting okay with dying realizing it happens and I keep valuable stuff like diamonds and a core amount of redstones and emeralds locked up so she can't get them so all she loses usually is iron tools, wood, dirt, food. No biggie. She got more upset when she decided to go through Whitey's ender portal and got stuck halfway (she was facing the frame and the purple hazy stuff was all over the screen so I didn't realize she was stuck because she was walking the wrong way). But once we figured it out she was fine.

So how does teleporting work? I read that there is the /tp command but I am not authorized to use it.

You can use /tpa [name] to teleport to someone, but it is probably better to set up portals. There is info on it back on page 2 or 3 of this thread. Basically, you construct a doorway in 2 different places and it create a link between them. There is a subway station near Jimer's tower that has several in it that you can try out.

Another good mod is Optifine: http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/249 ... much-more/

It's only supporting up to 1.7.4, but client-side 1.7.4 is the same as 1.7.5 unless you play on Minecraft Realms. If you do use Optifine, get the 1.7.4 version of the shader mod above instead of 1.7.5.

Optifine is really good at enhancing your FPS and overall game speed.

Guys, I am in both awe and love with what you're doing with the rail system. We need more powered rails, and I have a bunch of gold I'll donate to the effort to make them. I rode all over tonight- I had no idea you all were doing that much with the railway stuff. I love it!

I love rails, I built thousands and thousands of squares worth of track on my single player game before I started using nether portals .

If you get sleepy there's a hotel on top of the train station, the doorways that the rails go through are one-way only to keep mobs out and there is a portal in the back I'm going to setup to connect to the portal-subway if I haven't already (I got sidetracked and started expanding the portal-subway, there should be a bunch of open portals that just need items in the trunk and doors)

Also, basic railway stuff:
3 powered rails will get you to almost max speed, then to be efficient you just need 1 every 38th track afterwards on level ground.

1 powered will push you up about 5 squares vertically, but I think I was doing 2 powered every 4-5 regular tracks.

Soul Sand can be used to keep creatures out of a tunnel due to the sand being 7/8th of a full block

Push buttons work better than levers for starting tracks so they'll be powered off and stop your cart when it comes back
