Tony and Stavis will lead us from the SE so they can show us the traps, then they circle around to the North where they found a trap, trigger it and meet back with the main force to push in from the southeast, go around the warehouse and through an alley (does one exist?) and around into the forge.

Right?

Edit: and once be begin the actual assault, it will be Gobo, Tony, Syric, Trinal, Stavis, Ham'mon

So what you are saying is I need to make a bigger map so you guys can do the perimeter trigger all the traps approach. Ok.

Well I got some stuff to do tonight, but I'll prep the new map in the morning.

We are coming in the way Tony and Stavis came in last night to start our scouting trip.
Once we are overlooking the camp Tony and Stavis will circle around counter-clockwise and trigger a single trap north of the quarry.
While circling, but prior to triggering the intended trap, Tony will disable (ie pull the tarp off of) any other pit traps we find so they are more visible on our return trip on in case we need to retreat.
Tony and Stavis will then withdraw back to the group, who will then approach the quarry using the warehouse as cover from the forge.
Once we get as close as we can to the forge without being seen we will then charge it and take the forge by force.
If we are spotted prior to our intended charge, then we will charge and figure out the rest later.

Might need to mark some how rather then disarm in case the investigators pass by one of the other traps.

Okay here is an expanded map area which includes the area that has the traps since you guys are going that route. I'm not expanding it beyond this. Important note the yellow line is a sudden and severe elevation shift. The area outer area is 15 feet higher than the inner area.

Seems we'd be best served coming in from the northwest. I don't fancy trying to mount an assault up a cliff, no matter how small.

How did the dwarves manage that severe elevation shift so easily last night?

[OOC] Alright, it looks like the best route is to just go through the front door. Any objections? I think it's best to ride the rails this time. Also it means Pat wasted his time expanding the map

The fact is I prepared a map and have it all made as was originally done. I have tried to dissuade attacks from other sides by placing traps which if you guys go at night could place you could very well fall into. I don't want to railroad, but I also know that preparing a new map is proving to be a big problem with how I wanted to do a shared combat. If we did this in a mat in a living room, or even on a rolld20 live session, it wouldn't be an issue. But a forum based game essentially has few options. Either we do the original map I made, we go away from a map based combat and do descriptive based combat, or I have to make a new map which could more realistically represent the elevation shift. That last option however will take time, and when I was building the first battle mat there is a square size limit and I was already at max. In order to accommodate the size restrictions we would either be playing on multiple multi scale maps or I'd have to redo the features of the quarry as it is now.

When I was doing the scouting you were outside the scope of the map I had made initially and the elevation change wouldn't be as big of an issue.

"Ok, with this new information come to light Tony Plush suggests we come in from the NW along the road. Tony Plush suggests everyone stays out of sight and under cover while he and Stavis sneak as close as possible so Tony Plush can secure the door to the forge. Once he attacks at the door with Stavis's support the rest of you charge in and we mop the forge with them."

Okay just to be level with everyone here is the map of the area you are going into. (we haven't started yet).

https://docs.google.com/drawings/d/1mIq ... sp=sharing

The symbols in the upper left corner are you guys.
I am assuming the following symbol assignments:
Red-Always bad guys
Smiley face- Trinal (Because he is cheery)
Yellow Sun- Ham'mon (since he worships Pelor)
Green Star- (Stavis because bards are the 'stars' of a tavern)
Blue Moon- Syric (Because he is sad (blue) that he is such a bad elf (moon))
Purple Heart- Gobo (Soldier's medal of the purple heart)
Green Lightning- T Plush (because he is like lightning McQueen in Cars Ka'Chow!)

Feel free to trade or request a different color.

"Remember if Stavis or Tony Plush are spotted and the alarm goes up, charge the forge, it's a defensible position and it removes their crossbows from the fight."

So now that we're here...Tony will move in...and keep his eyes and ears pealed as he does

At the edge of the quarry area the six of you survey the area. It appears that two dwarves with crossbows are next to the entrance of the mineshaft on the south of the map. Because of Ham'mon's super perceptive roll he hears what he thinks is one humanoid in the warehouse, and thinks he spotted two in the forge building. In addition there is something else which he can't place his finger on lingering about.

In regards to stealth:
[rolls die behind the screen]

Both Tony and Ham'mon are pretty confident that they could move and not be seen at this point.

"The plan remains the same, we take the forge then mop up after we have a defensible position" Tony whispers. He makes a forward pointing motion with his hand and starts sneaking to the forge.

Okay I have modified the map to allow people to move pieces.

https://docs.google.com/drawings/d/1mIq ... sp=sharing

I am conceding initiative to the party as you have successfully rolled high stealths.

Movement is in any order among you based on post order. Remember you have 3 parts to your turn (these can be done in any order).

1.Standard action (cast spell, attack, skill check)
2. Movement (Standard movement)
3. Minor action (draw a weapon, unlock a door, tie a knot etc)

You can always trade down like if you want you could make your standard action a second movement, but then the whole round you are moving and not cast/fighting etc.

On you turn please specify what you are doing. Example:
Tony (green lightning) take 2 movement actions moving 12 to door and draws his sword.
or
Trinal moves 6 and casts fireball at enemy Arrow S by the cave.

Remember when in combat that position can matter, but being behind people doesn't grant specific bonuses like in older DnD, just that you and a team mate are flanking them.

Tony is in fact going to take 2 movement actions to sneak up to the forge door and draw my rapier.

[ooc]I can't work with the map at all, I can view it but can't manipulate it. I keep getting an error from google docs saying there is a problem with the file and prompts me to reload it. It happens in IE, firefox and chrome so don't expect me to manipulate my icon, because I can't.[/ooc]
