Let's Play Dungeons and Dragons: Alvis edition! (Game thread
[ooc] I wasn't intending to forage for an hour since I wasn't looking for 24 hours worth of food. Syric would not politely decline if Stavis attempted to help, since he's trying to make up for last night's forage failure.

The sun rises a bit more it is now 8am. The sun is shining and clothes and packs are starting to dry out. It would be more efficient if you strung them out.

If no one comes to wake me before then Tony will crawl out around 8:30, which should get me about 4 hours of rest. Once up I'll hang my bedroll and other gear out to dry on the wagon and dig out some rations and have a little breakfast.
They say when you go on a quest for vengence to dig two graves. They underestimate me.

Syric, having failed again to find anything worthwhile in the forest, returns to camp and lays his bedroll over the edge of his wagon to finish drying, along with anything else still wet before digging out some trail rations.

Re: Let's Play Dungeons and Dragons: Alvis edition! (Game th
Stavis takes the food supplies found with Syric, a days worth of field rations, some rain water that collected in the mugs, and some ale to make a sort of porridge at the fire. "Its a community pot, so any who contribute are welcome to have some, should we get enough contribution to feed the whole group all will then be welcome." As that cooks takes 10 feet of root tying it between two trees to hang his cloak and pack to dry and collects the mugs cleaning any out that need it and takes them back to the fire to use to eat the porridge.
Stavis looks to Syric "Your welcome to have some Syric as I wouldn't have been able to collect what was used without you."

Ham'mon emerges from his bush and goes to see if he can see anything amiss outside the perimeter of the campsite now that it's daylight.

Ham'mon eventually returns to camp and plops down on a wagon to wring out his boots and socks.
He then goes into his pack to find a wine skin.

Do you guys have a plan in the works? Or should I just keep with random weather rolls and random encounters?

[OOC was looking to do a recap of what Furiel and Stavis learned after everyone was awake and had eaten, followed with a discussion of plans to implement]
Re: Let's Play Dungeons and Dragons: Alvis edition! (Game th
Tony finishes his breakfast and seeing everyone is up and mobile he figures it's time to go over the scouting report. Tony clears a patch of ground, pulls out his dagger and sketches a map of the quarry in the dirt, then pulls several sticks out and places them in the ground at various points surrounding the quarry. Tony cleans and sheathes his dagger, then pulls out his rapier to use as a pointer...
"Ok, so here is what Tony Plush and Stavis learned last night. The road into the quarry comes in from the northwest. On foot we came in from a more south-easterly direction. There are 2 buildings, a pile of crates and a mine shart there. This building (Tony points to the more northenly one) is the forge. This one is the warehouse (pointing to the larger, southern rectangular one). Mine shaft is here, and crates are here (Tony points them out as well). The sticks in the ground are the locations of several pit traps they have placed around the quarry. Those are the ones we found, there may well be more. The buildings are stone with small windows so they could easily hole up in the buildings and use the windows to pick us apart with crossbows if it turns into a fight. The pit traps are rigged with a bell that will chime when triggered. We measured their response last night by tripping one and they sent two dwarves out to investigate armed with crossbows. The dwarves were sleeping in the forge as it was producing smoke at night, but there was no work being done. Tony Plush looked for any blind approaches and there were not any he could locate. At least at night there did not appear to be any external sentries on duty, even on the road as we did a full circuit of the compound before we left. So how do we want to play this?"
[ooc]I'll be afk for the next 90 minutes or so in a meeting[/ooc]

Stavis after grabbing some of the porridge with a mug looks over the drawing Tony had done, and after finding nothing to correct nods in approval.
"If we want to try at night since only the two came out could intentionally trigger one of the traps to bring any who investigate to use to subdue or try to distract by having someone trigger one of the traps on the other side to have any investigate occupied with that. Though does have the problem of alerting any that are in the buildings."

[ooc]and now you have given Jounville ample motivation to try to manipulate the encounter to ensure that happens, well played.[/ooc]
"Tony Plush agrees that that is a good bit of misdirection we can undertake if we decide upon a night approach. However Tony Plush was also under the impression that others were more interested in approaching in the day with the intent to talk as well. So Tony Plush asks how do people want to do this, we have four options, day approach to talk, day approach to attack, night approach to talk and night approach to attack. Tony Plush believes first we need to settle on a course, then we can better plan how to accomplish it with the highest likelihood of success. Tony Plush's preferences would be night attack, day talk, day attack and night talk in that order."

"My preference would be night attack, day attack, day talk."
"I don't see a night talk having any chance of success so would be adamantly against and unwilling to take part."
"I also don't see a lot of hope of success with a day talk but I am willing to act as support reinforcements should the group that goes to talk gets attacked. I would not usually be one brag on my own skill but with my showing of persuasiveness with Brago Truque, unless someone feels themselves better still then that and willing to be in the group to go talk, the only only result will be in violence."

Re: Let's Play Dungeons and Dragons: Alvis edition! (Game th
Since we are intent on destroying their forge and taking what they likely think of as their goods, there is nothing to be gained from talking or announcing ourselves. If we're going to do this, let's do it properly and not give up any advantage of surprise. I believe a night attack will be best.

Re: Let's Play Dungeons and Dragons: Alvis edition! (Game th
Gobo looks at Tony Plush, not much of a leader, but one must follow orders.
"Good sir Mr. Plush, I will do as requested. I believe the best strategy is to assault first and ask questions later, be it day or night. These thieves don't deserve the chance to defend themselves until we have contained their forge and stolen goods."
