@ Cuspar

You go to the public terminals and start looking through business listings and notice a Fossar Shipping regional office. It is in the warehouse district.

Turning back before reaching the door Syric looks at Eli and gives him an affirmative nod before resuming to exit the cantina.

Hearing Wailer coming after him he smiles largely and says "Sure Gungan, I think our Bothan friend would appreciate your company
Spoiler:
Within 5 squares of Syric: +1 to Healing surges, +3 Diplomacy, +2 Intimidate, +2 Speed on surprise and 1st regular rounds
Between 6-10 squares of Syric: +1 Diplomacy

Sighing, Cuspar realizes that he is going to have to continue to disappoint his father. He also looks in the listing for a tailor that stocks formal merchant ware. The plan he is beginning to formulate requires him NOT looking his current part.

Dood looks at Klak with a slightly puzzled expression that grows into one of amusement.

"Soldier, I don't think you have to worry much about Eli. Monks, wizards, and nomads are sometimes a little lacking in social polish. We can't all be diplomats, eh?

@ Cuspar

You approach the garden district which is dry and dusty like much of the rest of the city except some desert palms arranged near a few reflection pools. These pools form a courtyard for high end cafe's and boutiques. You walk along until you find one for business and formal wear.

As you walk in you see a short man with a thin moustache, thinning hair, and pot belly attending to a slender older gentleman having his white linen pants hemmed.

"I hope this work is better than your previous job. Those pants were really not up to your usual standards Daar." The older man says in a faint aristocratic tone. "Well it appears as though you have some new business. Go ahead and see to him, I can wait." The older man steps down from the small platform and sits in a nice chair and begins sipping his tea and picks up his datapad.

"Welcome to my shop, sir. How can I help you?"
Daar says wiping his hands on his smock and taking out a measuring tape.

As So Leet walks out of the cantina, Dood approaches him and pulls out handful of credits. He carefully counts out 8,000cr and hands that over to So before pocketing the rest.

"Here is the current ship investment for Aderbrent Services, not counting whatever you - as our new majority stakeholder - will be adding or what Cuspar added to the pot. I'm holding 2,000 in reserve. 1,000 for the necessary operations license, 500 for Syric's captain's license and potential expediting fee, and holding 500cr in reserve for weapons licensing in case we don't have anything left over after the load-out."

Dood looks around and spots the local equivalent of a notary.

"Come with me for a second."

Dood leads So Leet into the notary office and returns a few minutes later, explaining (based on So Leet's tired expression not for the first time), "Remember, this card gives you the authority to purchase a ship and supplies for said ship for Aderbrent Services. It has my name on it, so don't do anything foolhardy."

Dood then pulls his purple kerchief out of his jacket pocket and places it over the top of his head before looking at Syric and saying, "Well, Captain? Let's go get you licensed."

{Skipping ahead a bit}

Wailer pays for the Captain test (200 credit) plus the "expediter fee" (300 credits).

Pilot roll (1d20+4, 20+4=24)

Afterwards Wailer heads to a store to get a utility belt and rejoins the group.

Heads back to Zeid's to discuss Dynamic Class-Freighters. Looking for one as close to the base model as possible.
Looking at financing something with approx. 50% down which should in theory improve the interest rate, as well as improve the price a bit.

"Ya know Zeid I'd really like to see what your best price is on this. *shows the letter of authority for Aderbrent Services* This is the division of Fosser that I'm representing. So know that this will more than likely be the first of numerous ships."
Persuasion 16+3=19
Perception 20+10 = 30 (To figure out where he stands on the attitude scale at this point.)

The Taris Event Chapter 2

Post by Cuspar » Thu Mar 10, 2011 1:02 am

Cuspar mulls over speaking to the shop keeper in High Galactic, but expediency leads him to stick with High Galactic-accented basic.

"Good day, sir. As you can see, the harsh Tattooine climes have me dressed for... adventure. Unfortunately, I've been pressed into service and require a fine merchant's suit, and I need it quickly. I represent Fossar Shipping and we've just made the major acquisition of Aderbrent Enterprises - and my formal garments were misplaced. As is obvious. What do you have in a quality textile for around 100 credits?"

With Dood giving you 8k you're currently holding 36,307credits.

"Welcome back! You left so fast yesterday I wasn't sure if I'd see you again. But I know low prices woo everyone back to Zeid!" Zeid greets you. "Okay Dynamic Class Freighter, base model is the blue one. 35k is the sticker price, I work on turnover not thick margins and I need you to get that, so I'm willing to go down to 33k if you put up 16.5k and finance the remainder at 6 payments of 2860cr a month. And I won't need that first month payment until 60 days from now. However, and this is something I shouldn't be doing, but if you buy both DCRs at 29k, 50% up front, finance the remaining 29k at 5% APR over 12 months at 2537.5/month I can get your fleet started. You in the business to haul stuff, you got people, get the ships and double your profit." Zeid smiles big.

"Of course sir. Please step over here so we might make some measurements." Daar leads you to the platform banked by mirrors to start measuring you.

"Is Fossar Shipping in such straits that they barely can afford to outfit their regional representatives in proper business attire?" The older gentlemn says with an air of judgment not raising his eyes from his datapad. "There was a time Mr. Inirv'E thought enough of his employees to pay proper expenses. I guess his miserly ways have come with his age spots."

Daar smiles in an apologetic manner, "Pay him no mind. What color and fabric were you thinking of?"

Upon reaching the local branch of the Bureau of Ships and Services, Syric begins the unnecessary hassle of certifying his ability to operate a starship. It had been awhile since he'd had to worry about legitimate documentation, but he reminded himself that the point was to avoid any more attention in the rescue of Jounville Blackferne. But being one who had bounced around the galaxy as much as he had, there was no worry in Syric's mind that he would have the experience required.

Bulwark clicks on his comlink, "Hey guys, I'm going to head over and look at parts and ship mods. What do you think our primary focus should be? I'm thinking a good set of thrusters should be up there. The faster we can get out of a planet's gravity well, the faster we can get into hyperspace and away from trouble. anything else?" He clicks off the comlink and sets out to find a parts dealer.

Cuspar looks at the tailor and says, emphatically, Blue, with red trim.

He glares at the old man and says Which, of course, are the colors of my father's household. Mr. Inirv'E is rather thrilled to have his prodigal son back in the family business and, as I said, adventure brought me to this bone dry rock. I was required to travel light, but when the opportunity to acquire Aderbrent presented itself, I was compelled to increase my formality. I'm stunned that you have a tailor of such skill on this planet.

Cuspar nods at the tailor with a smile. Persuasion - 12+7=19

Edit. Also, a deception roll in case it's needed for the old man. 12+7=19

"Blue with red trim. Wise selection. It will compliment your colors well. As for cut what sort of suit were you thinking? The Coruscant double breasted, the Corellian collared singe breasted, a Naboo robe perhaps?"
Daar asks.

"Oh Daar is quite talented, you are lucky indeed. But out of dear affection for my tailor friend here I'm poking at your pride. I am still surprised however that Mr. Inirv'E's son is not indulging into a proper presentation to the business world. If there is one thing I've learned about the locals, and while I am not familiar with Aderbrent I'll assume they are in fact local, the one thing I've learned is that a nice Corellian collar single breasted jacket with Tythonese brushed wool will have them eating out of your hand. Take it from me Master Inirv'E power comes in many forms, but presentation of power is probably the most useful. Accept my apologies if I have injured your pride, just consider my comments made to attempt to drum up some proper business for Daar here. He works very hard and deserves a chance to create you a worthwhile suit, not something you'd expect from a port to port used hyperdrive salesman."
The older gentleman says looking up from his datapad with a coy smile.

The Corellian is wonderful, sir. And I apologize for my aggressive reaction. I prefer to travel in a manner that does not identify me as the heir to a fleet with half as many engines as the Republic - and that is the whole explanation for my rustic garb. I am limited by time though, so I will have to trust Mr. Daar to have me looking my best with stocked textiles in a short time. What say you, Mr. Daar? Am I stuck with a tailored-to-fit stock piece if I need to be off planet tomorrow? I would hate to be a travesty of style, but this new subsidiary is rather eager to begin their association with Fossar.

Upon inspection you see that the Yellow trim one (5k extra cargo room) has fewer emplacement points. So the blue one has more totaling at 6 (standard amount for the vehicle). The doubel laser cannons are standard for the ship and are legal to own with license (375 credits at the BoSS office). The ships are able to fly now once the dealer restraining bolt is removed. Zeid is okay with your price offer and will let you take the ship off the lot once you have all appropriate permits and licenses. You are free upon purchase to work on the ship and sleep in the ship until you are ready to leave. Do you want the blue Dynamic Class Freighter?
