"Sure." She steps forward and bangs her glaive against the portcullis to get their attention. "I am Victae Meneldur, formerly of the 2nd Brigade infantry, Elk Hoof Company, Sergeant First Class, discharged with distinction. I wish entrance to the Citadel and safe haven for my companions here."

Slightly startled the guards focus on the group. One speaks "What's the passcode?"

Victae says "Titan trail." without hesitation.

A third gentleman comes into view on the far side he says to the one "Who are these people?"

One: "She is a retired Sergeant asking for safety for her group."

Third: "Does she have clearance?"

One: "It's an older code, sir, but it checks out. I was about to clear them."

The third eyes the group.

One: "Shall I hold them?"

Third: "No. Leave them to me. I will deal with them myself."

The first portcullis raises.

Trinal raises an eyebrow at the DM.

To the guards he says "Thank you kindly, my friends. We are grateful to be here."

The third gentleman steps to the still closed second portcullis and introduces himself.

"I am Captain Rainne Teurneaux. We are in lock down due to the siege. We will need to do a full survey of your party, take inventory of your belongings, and do interviews of your company. Is this agreeable?"

Victae looks to the party "You need to understand that this is a military facility. They have very regimented methods for just about every aspect of their world, and to them this sort of investigation is standard. I want to stress that in whatever capacities I have I will advocate for your behalf." lookign subtely at Stavis "If this inspection is unacceptable we best come to other terms, or turn around now."

"So long as it is understood that we will not be relinquishing anything we own once it has been... catalogued. We're here to help liberate this citadel, so it would be best if we start off on the right foot, no?"

"In order to prevent any... undesirable surprises, I'd like to make sure you and your men understand that every person in this group is on the same side and we have all risked our lives for one another, many times over. I ask only that as we proceed, you keep that in mind." Trinal smiles genially.

[OOC completely forgot to bring this up before now but hopefully the group is wearing their tabards.]

Stavis though not wanting to chime in too much during the early pleasantries but still needing to add "Not just safe haven, we are the Phoenix Guard from the Southern alliance and friends we picked up, so some may be with us for haven but most are here to help."

"We where sent with plans to give the Citadel aid from the Southern Alliance, though that will likely need to be discuses in greater detail later."

Stavis will node his thanks at Victea's promise.

When Trinal blunders Stavis will with a heavy sigh remove his mask. "It was for my sake that he mentioned we all of the Phoenix Guard are here for aiding the Citadel and as such I humbly ask to over look his misstep."

Diplomacy
[dice]0[/dice]

"To that end I willingly submit to any inspection requires to help get to where we can discus what we have to offer, my only request would be that mine be in private." as he is talking Stavis will look to each member to make it very clear that this is his choice and to not create any greater a scene for now.

After more then a slight pause "Even if that require it be in a cell or small storage room."

Should that be agreeable to the Captain, Stavis would willingly follow the soldier(s) in charge of taking him wherever his inspection will take place.

Rainne calls out for more men. Several come in with bows and swords.

"I would ask that you put your hands in the air and get on your knees." Rainne says

Victae says "Captain Rainne, I demand to have a private audience with leadership as is my right with my distinguished discharge. I will surrender my armor, my weapon, and my freedom for this and leave the rest here. I do this as Victae Meneldur, daughter of Colonel Vazach Meneldur." She drops her pack, weapons and starts removing the armor.

Captain Rainne is confused but barks orders for everyone in the party save Victae to retreat past the first Portcullis.

Stavis in the process of complying when Victea responds will hold for a moment before complying with the Captains request of everyone moving. Though the thought does cross his mind to request not having to regardless of what that would mean so that he doesn't yet have to deal with the conversation or worse that is for sure to come with the dwarfs but decides better of it as he knows that would invalidate that which Victea was trying to accomplish.

OOC- I don't think failing the roll should have provoked this kind of response; at worst it should have made him less friendly, but actively hostile? There's no logic to it that I can see based on what was actually said. However, since we're here now...

Trinal looks at the captain mildly when he gives the order to get on his knees. "No."

"We have come as friends, spoken fairly and made not a single hostile move or even a hint of a threat. You, captain, are being belligerent and this is extremely unbecoming. We are here to help liberate this Citadel, not get into silly arguments with you."

The one resulted in him feeling insulted like "Hey I don't come down to the dock and tell you how to do your job cocksucker." Stavis's two combined with revealing himself to be a Drow was what prompted the armed response. His instruction for "on the knees" was directed at Stavis only. I should have made that more clear.

His current order is to have you guys retreat behind the first portcullis, and he'll take Victae to go see leadership.

OOC- I suppose so, but for a guard captain he must be a pretty big shrinking violet to get that out of what I said, no matter how I flubbed it. :D

I don't think any of us advanced past the portcullis, but if so I assume we'll all step back while they sort this out.

Tony will saunter over to a wall and lean nonchalantly against it with his arms folded and he'll place a small smirk on his face.

[OOC yea I figured it was being directed at Stavis for reveal his race and may have been influenced by the near crit fail my diplomacy had.

Realistically all in all about what Stavis was prepared for in terms of a welcome and why if I had been faster typing out my conversation he would have requested a private room but had to switch things up when the conversation had turned. That revealing myself Drow would for the good of the task at hand, have any ill-will redirected at him if necessary until the group and thus him could prove itself allies to the Citadel.

Should he have been jailed either now or as a result of him being inspected he would have figured it would have been short lived as Victea's actions would have likewise played out the same either way.

I'll be honest I assumed we had as a part of the conversion Victea first had with the Captain Rainne on us getting searched as I figure they would want that open as minimal as possible.]

As Stavis gets into a resting position by leaning up against a wall at a reasonable distance to the dwarfs, he will be very tempted to play his lyre but will settle for silently practicing so as to not upset the guards and have them fear that the Drow is trying to use Bard magics on them. Likewise tempted to put his mask back on but will decline as he recognizes that the cats out of the bag and was feeling the masks where starting to be a bit stifling with him having to constantly wear them. On a bright side he was now looking forward to being able to mediate normally again.

The first portcullis drops separating you from Victae who is now out of armor, without weapon and away from her gear. The second portcullis raises and Victae with her hands on her head follows a guard out of view. The second portcullis lowers and the majority of the archers etc lower weapons.

"I guess we wait." Torvo says.

Atrios looks suspiciously at Stavis but doesn't say anything.

Looking at our dwarven friends, Trinal says "If you have questions, gents, now's as good a time as any to ask them." He's speaking in a quiet, non-confrontational tone.

"Well I guess the obvious one is, who are you people?" Zelvo asks. "I cannot imagine how she was a member of this army when its been under siege for so long. And that a drow is tolerated by so many, also what's his deal?" Pointing to Syric who seems to be having a mild panic attack.

"Honestly, I do puzzle on the second one from time to time but we have been a company for no short amount of time and that the trust I have earned did in fact take more time for some."

"He is probably the easiest to answer, he is a man of action, so being told to wait is not something he does willingly."

"As to your question on her and in some ways the most difficult question is simply with the most obvious of answers, she left when they weren't under siege. Granted I realize that doesn't truly answer it but we have been a group for a very very long time depending on how you want to look at it."

"Under better circumstances if you wish to hear the full story I or others will likely share all there is to know, granted will require a fair bit of acceptance upon hearing but can promise that I will speak nothing but the truth."

"As my friend says, we've been gone for a very, very long time. Some interesting things happened between then and now and... delayed our return somewhat." He looks around at the team. "We took the moniker 'Phoenix Guard' after returning from a long excursion. For most of us this is our first visit, Victae having joined us after she left originally."

Nodding to Syric, Trinal goes on, "My friend here has consistently shown that he bears none of the animus of many of his companions toward people like you and I, and has saved my life more than once. He may be a drow but, like any other person, he is an individual who has made his own decisions, and I am pleased to call him my friend."
