I will circle around the camp slowly examining the camp and the person in it. Does he have any apparent weapons or other obvious non-fishing and camping gear with him?

Stavis will stay on the boat and do what appears to be a ritual on the boat as he rests to have an explanation for his dark vision for Vlad and Viggo since he wants to keep his race hidden.

[OOC I will go ahead and hand Stavis over to Joun at this point as I'm assuming tomorrow I'm not going to have much time to check the boards as I prepare for my trip. I will try and check in from time to time but really no guarantees until I get back home.]

Tony will approach the fire then from the direction that the man is facing to give him the maximum opportunity to see me (ie I'm not sneaking) then stop at the edge of the firelight

"Greetings good sir, may Tony Plush approach your fire?"

Diplomacy: [dice]0[/dice]

Assuming he says yes I will watch him for signs that he might attack and of course watch his body language, etc for signs of distrust, lies and potential betrayal.

He gives you a startled look and puts his hand on the hilt of his sword, but doesn't raise it.

"Who are you then? How did you get here? Where's your boat?"

You insight says he is more scared of you than you are of him, but he doesn't strike you as malicious, rather paranoid.

I will take another couple slow steps forward with my hands empty and out some from my sides in a non-threatening gesture. I'm not getting close, just further inside the firelight so he can get a better look at me.

"Peace friend, as stated my name is Tony Plush, we arrived at the island around sunset where we took a rest and seeing the smoke from your fire Tony Plush came to investigate. Scout is one of the trades Tony Plush has been known to ply and it seemed prudent to approach quietly knowing of the bandits that are active in this area to ensure that we were not about to be set upon by a group of murderous theives. Tony Plush assures you that he is no thief, as are his companions who remain back at our boat and has no affiliation with these bandits and in point of fact we are in the area trying to learn more about them. Will you allow Tony Plush to share your fire for a brief time and we can talk of these things?"

"I don't quite trust a man who shows up out of nowhere. You stay on that side of the fire with hands where I can see them and I'll stay on mine, and you best tell your friends to be nice and loud and slow if they are approaching so as no one gets stabbed. Now you got questions you best start asking." The man says looking around for others.

While Tony is attempting diplomacy, Spintik will move from our docking location, giving Tony and the camp fire a very very wide birth and following the shore line towards the main dock area. I will not step onto the dock.

The dock is in very poor shape from what you can tell. Lots of rotted wood. There a few lines tied and apparently cut hanging on the end. In the edge of earshot you hear the old man telling Tony to keep to his side of the fire.

"Tony Plush assures you that my friends will not be approaching but your wariness is completely understandable. We are new to the area and are working on investigating this bandit threat presented by Mumford. We heard that they are likely working out of some of the old sea forts in the area like this one. Are you aware of anyone occupying any of those other forts? And if so who they are and if they are allied with Mumford? Any information you have could be useful in this area."

@Tony

"Ah Mumford, that back stabbing bastard. Half moose half pile of dung." He spits on the ground. "Yeah he and his lot were the ones who left me here after I didn't vow allegiance to them. I was a fishermen up in Walkost and they took me off my ship and had me bound for a few days before passing by this cursed island. Mumford had promised me that he'd treat me fair, and he has the kind of face you want to trust. It is big an inviting in his smile. But when he asked me to renounce my gods for his he just picked me up and tossed me into the water. I swam a good 6 hours to get to this island and have been living off fish for two weeks now. Front what I head he has three islands they work off of. Belsot (island 2), Brynesot(Island 5), and Flourgis(island 7). What do you want with Mumford? You can't be but a child and a large man like that would break you like a twig he would."

Is his dislike of Mumford, story etc legit?
Insight: [dice]0[/dice]

Also is there room in our boat for one more?

@Spintik the next thing of interest on the island is a boat. It has two half elves, a sleeping drow in a jester's mask, two humans and an elf.

@Tony, best you can tell the old man would like to see Mumford gutted and fed to fish.

"Do you have a name I can call you by friend? And realize that looks can be deceiving. Strength has it's place in a fight, but so do speed and precision and Tony Plush is as quick and precise as any you'll find.

As for what we want with Mumford, it's a business matter. Specifically the business of putting an end to him and his crew. We spoke to his lordship on land and we are working for him, currently scouting out his positions, but if action is necessary we are more than prepared to take it.

You mentioned that he asked you to renounce your gods in favor of his...what gods does he follow?"

You never answered Joun, is there room in our boat for 1 more?

You could fit one more on the boat sure.

"Tony Plush thanks you for your information Porthos. We have familiarity with the symbol and the being behind it and speaking that name is unwise. Knowing that they are followers of this being makes Tony Plush and his friends even that much more resolute in putting an end to Mumford.

Knowing what you have been through Tony Plush would like to offer you a ride off of this island if you desire it as well. Currently we are being accompanied by Vlad and Viggo, who are his Lordship's men if you are familiar with them, and we have room enough in our boat for at least one more. If you do not wish to accompany us at this time, but still desire to leave then by Avandra Tony Plush gives his word that he will speak with Vlad and Viggo on your behalf to have them send a boat for you once we return."

"Well, our mission currently was to scout their postions. With the information you have given us our next steps are yet to be determined. If you would like you can accompany Tony Plush back to our boat and if you wish to stay depending upon our plans then you are welcome to stay here and we will come back for you, or you can accompany us immediately."

"Dinner's almost cooked so I think I'll be eating. Sorry I don't have enough to share, but I wasn't expecting company. If you are scouting and can't go back to port first, I'll be disappointed, but I'd rather stay here and hope for rescue than go looking for trouble end up on the wrong end of a broad sword." He pulls the fish off the fire and starts poking at it.

"Understandable. You have Tony Plush's word that someone will be back for you. Enjoy your dinner and thank you for your time and information."

Tony will slowly withdraw and once I'm outside of the firelight I'm going to start sneaking again. I'll take a meandering route back to the boat to ensure I'm not followed as well.
