Quawff will rouse himself when there is movement in the room. Wait for Darvin to leave and quietly get up. Do his morning devotions and prayers and then follow Alrek downstairs to breakfast.
He agrees with Maeve between mouthfuls of food that going to the Constabulary is a good idea.

Alrek lets out a sigh as he turns to Maeve, "You're going to have to accept that words will not resolve this. I didn't just have my life flipped upside down because my destiny was to negotiate with terrorists, no, I have something burning deep inside me and the Nine have given me a target on which to unleash it. THIS is how we prepare ourselves to fullfill the prophecy."

"I'm fine accepting that violence may be necessary, but goodness doesn't strike first. We offer them a choice for peace, and IF that is rebuked, and violence seems inevitable by all means do.." she waves her hand at them in a slight stir like motion indicating she is summarizing your talents"all of your stuff. Off to the constable we go?"

Daren will finish up his mug and stand up with an ever slight slur suggesting he has had maybe a bit too much "Yes, lets start with the constable, may not even need to see the mayor." as they walk out Darren will put both hands in his pocket and unless the group wants a different order will ensure Maeve leads with Alrek and Quawff in the rear as he figures the group prefer to keep an eye on him.

Will fall into the group in that stated order.

Re: Orus chapter 1: Strangers in a strange land
Ok, sounds like you are off to the constabulary. You get directions from the inkeeper and after a short walk you arrive at a 2 story building near the town center. As you enter there are a couple men in uniforms in the room wearing light armor, each with a sword at their side. There is also a couple racks of weapons along the walls. The room is smallish with a table that the men are sitting at and there is a door behind them that goes further back into the building along with a hallway that at first glance looks like it goes to a stairway going up.
Both of the men look up from some sort of board game as you enter and the one closer to the door addresses you...
"Can I help you folk?"

The man gives the group an appraising look...
"So you're the troubleshooters the Nine sent. Constable Buckley is tending to an important matter right now and will not be back for another hour or so. I'm not sure how much information he may have for you unfortunately beyond what we already know. The goblins started attacking farms along the Westwood about 2 months ago. It started as about 1 raid a week, and mostly they only killed or stole the animals in the night. But about a month ago the raids increased in frequency and they started killing people. Not just people who came out to defend the animals, but they started breaking into homes and killing the folks inside. We don't know where they are in the forest or how many there are. We just know they've gone from being the mere nuisance they had always been to a real threat. And that's why we asked for help..."

Re: Orus chapter 1: Strangers in a strange land
Daren looking like he is deep in thought will ask without looking at the man "Do you know what if anything that had been taken when they started breaking into houses?"
He will than state quieter that only the group would hear "Clearly something changed, maybe an outside force or new leadership?... unlikely on new goblin leadership at least.... should have asked Xur if the Planeswalkers attacked goblins. Though seems the goblins started their raids far earlier but their acceleration could still be as a result of this new dark force. Doubt we can pursue that logic too deep just yet, no sense potentially scaring the townsfolk with that ominous threat just yet."
He will look to the man for his last question "Seems rather uncharacteristic of them to attack the houses directly, is the area know for other groups that might be instigating them like Trolls, Drow or such?"

"Sir do you have a map we can look at of the surrounding area where you can show us where attacks have occurred and homes are that were attacked? I'm not familiar with this area, so anything we can do to better prepare ourselves is welcome." Maeve asks.

The man looks at Darren "Sorry, none of that information has been shared with me, even if we knew. I'm pretty sure the few survivors haven't returned to their homes to check the contents."
then turning to Maeve "Sorry, we do not have a map. All of the farms that were attacked were the ones furthest into the Westwood so it's likely they just raided the ones closest to their settlement."

"Okay..." Mardak will remind Daren to not piss him off and will instead look to Quawff resisting the urge to pat him on the shoulder " 'fraid not, only that they are likely in the forest so will have to locate before we can deal with them."
Daren will than scratch at his chin in thought for a bit before asking while looking at the ceiling "Is Westwood the only area that the people have left to seek refuge in town?" He has a hard time believing that but can't help fretting that even if partially true, that should the violence spread could mean the town and its resources could be overwhelmed, let alone the coming winter.
While still in thought will instinctively grab a flask with his left hand and take a small pull to top off his alcohol levels, should one of the constables notice will mention it helps to keep the creative juices flowing.
Daren will look to the man for his last question "Are there scouts or enough residents still in the area that should the goblins attacks expand for word to be sent?" He will have a look like he expects to be told the worst and to expect they have explained greatly as they have gotten embolden from their successes.
After receiving responses to his inquiries will give a nod of thanks to both men before heading to a window or door within earshot to allow the rest of the group, especially Maeve, to ask any question they have left.

Re: Orus chapter 1: Strangers in a strange land
"Not exactly know, but now unknown either. There have always been a small number of Goblins roaming the Westwood, but usually they avoided contact with us. Very rarely would they raid a farm, but if they did it would only be for a few animals and they would run as soon as confronted. As they were only a nuisance we never tried to pin them down and push them out.
And no, we asked everyone in the area to take shelter as a safety precaution and pretty much everyone came in. As such we don't have any scouts or anything more than a few hours outside of town just keeping watch to ensure if they come to the city we would have some warning to rally the defenses."

Re: Orus chapter 1: Strangers in a strange land
@Furiel Recapping we transported to a hill walked south I think towards to town which was by a lake. I assume there are woods to the west (thus the name west woods), so is it by our observation and these reports Town center, lake to the south, foresty stuff to the west, hills to the north? And what if anything is know about the area east of town.
"Sirs, with all the refugees in town, how long will foodstuffs last without anyone left wanting for food?" Maeve asks, also wondering using her knowledge of agriculture how long til the harvest needs to be done lest crops go to rot.

Re: Orus chapter 1: Strangers in a strange land
Incorrect. You arrived to the south and east of the town, and walked northwest to town which is on the southern shores of the lake. And yes as you were headed to town you could see some woods off in the distance to the west.

"Well, that's hard to say because some of that depends on how much food the farmers brought in with them. We aren't truly strained yet and likely will not be for another 10 days to 2 weeks. If we get to that point without any relief then we likely will appeal to the Nine again for additional aid."

Daren will turn to the group "Unless there is something we wish to do in town before we head out, seems we would merely be wasting the constable's time." he will than indicate towards the two men "I am sure the two gentlemen will let the constable know where we are headed and can send word to us if there is something that has been learned that would be beneficial for us to know."
Daren will give a nod of thanks to both men and will fall in line should the group leave.
When the group is outside "Don't know if it's exactly appropriate but may want to buy some rations before we leave. Won't do us any good to fight on an empty stomach should it come to that. Unless we think we will have no problem living off the land." He will look to Quawff and Alrek as he assumes Maeve's administrative skill set will not be much help on that front.
