Hello everyone!
Because we care about ensuring that Star Wars™: The Old Republic™ provides you with a consistent and quality game play experience, we will be postponing weekly maintenance this week. Downtime was originally scheduled for Tuesday, January 17th, 2012 from 2AM CST (12AM PST/3AM EST/8AM GMT/9AM CET) to 10AM CST (8AM PST/11AM EST/4PM GMT/5PM CET) and will now occur at a later date due to issues requiring additional testing that have been discovered with the Game Update 1.1 content on the Public Test Server.
These issues were primarily brought to our attention by the diligent players on the Public Test Server Forums. Your participation in testing helps to improve the game as a whole, and we appreciate your discussion and feedback. The bug reports you provide are a valuable part of the development process. Thank you!
We’re working hard to bring you Game Update 1.1: Rise of the Rakghouls and are working hard to ensure your overall experience with Star Wars: The Old Republic is spectacular! The maintenance window for Game Update 1.1 will be rescheduled for some time within the next few days, and we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. When there’s a definite time, we will post here on the Community Blog as well as on the Official Forums. Please keep your eye out for updates, and we will provide information as soon as it’s available.
No idea why, the test forums seem to be as surprised as anyone.

Rumor has it is that it's because of the timing.
If they postpone it a week, then it's after the first subscription cycle. So people that got to level 50 in 3 days and have done nothing but complain about no new content would play it to death by Friday if it came out today, then cancel their subbs.
But if BioWare postpones it, some people on the fence would give it a chance and give in on the first subb cycle.
Of course, that's just conjecture, especially since everyone on the test server is just as baffled as everyone. My issue with that is the minority of players are lv50, therefore, why would BW feel so compelled to hang on to them?
I dunno... Just a thought. But thoughts are dangerous. So I'll go back to my altarsquid hole.

That seems like an overly pessimistic viewpoint. There could easily be issues that the players didn't see in testing that BW did.
I've had to call customers before to tell them that something wasn't going to happen because shit was bullshit and they were baffled as to what could possibly be wrong or how I knew it. Considering BW's extensive logging, my money would be on there being something revealed as a potential issue with a RTM(asses).

Oh, I completely agree that it's a terrible point of view to have. But it's the rumor mill from the overly negative "BioWare is stealing my soul and mah mooniez!!!eleventy11 RAWR" crowd on the message boards I read while I'm bored shitless at work.
Is it possible that BioWare found something? Absolutely. They developed the game, they would know it better than anybody. With what I do for a living there's so many times when you're aware of a massive issue that the client would scream about, and it's my job to make sure they never even know about it, even if it means purposely screwing up something minor.
What I'm saying is that it's possible they found something game-breaking in their patch and they'd rather delay its release than have that get out there and totally screw something up. Y'know, like they did with magic resistance in Skyrim.

I think they have learned the lesson from Blizzard of do not release stuff until ready. You can only allow so many bugs into a game before your rep is shot.

Maybe they realized that everyone is sick of fucking Rakhghouls. I assume in two weeks we'll see: Patch 1.1.1: Rise of the Imperial Relay Droids - and there will be much rejoicing.

i'm kind of glad they are getting rakghouls out of the way early so they can moev onto more content later as opposed to later when I'll not have leveling to keep me busy so it'll just be "ugh might as well do Left 4 Dead swtor edition".

They're not holding it up because of the subscription cycle.
I'll tell you exactly what drove the decision: Players testing the content didn't see issues, but BioWare found something wrong when they looked at stats, logs or aggregated activity information based on player testing. They found something they didn't like; a load problem, potentially fatal server issue, or something that only showed up because players were working the system on the PTR. Testers are confused because they haven't seen anything at their end that would warrant a holdup, but they don't see all the info that BioWare does.
As Joun pointed out on the show last week, BioWare tracks an incredible amount of info about the game.

Rakhghouls are Zombies. All videogames must have Zombies, or they are in fact, not a real videogame.

Tetris
Pong
On a side note, I've been an Altarsquid for less than a day, but I'm fairly certain this topic is now doomed because Jimer posted in it.

He has a point about them being zombies. I know that I applied the rules from Zombieland while I was there and they kept me alive for the duration.

The only reason you left Taris is because you couldn't find a Twinkie, only Snowballs.
Ad you hate coconut. Not the taste; the consistency.

He didn't start the post, that's when the threads are doomed.
I agree, the whole "Delay for subs" conspiracy theory is just silly.
The level 50 content is already buggy as hell and I'd be much happier if they fixed those things before adding more stuff... For example, 2 of the 5 daily missions on Ilum are bugged so I can't complete them, basically costing me 20k+ in credits and 2 daily commendations every day. It may sound like a lot, but repair costs can hit 50k+ for a single run of BT on Hard Mode... because it's also buggy.
I suspect there's either another credit exploit, or a bug that was preventing something from happening that no one saw (because it wasn't happening). It could also be that they want to rework Biochem a bit more so it's not the only crew skill you can take to be competitive at endgame (the patch was making it even more "the one" than balancing it).

And now they're saying it will be on the 18th... so a 1 day delay... must not be that big of a bug (or it was really simple to fix).

Yeah, I fixed it. Sorry that took so long...
Anyways, it was likely a problem in their coding is all. Kind of a...

They spent today adding pink bows to the Rakghouls. It's like Mrs. Pac Man totally isn't Pac Man. Mrs. Rakghoul is a totally different experience, guys.

I can't [flirt] with Ms. Pac Man until a future patch.

Blech - patch was about 150MB...which takes effing forever to run over a 3G cell connection.

Rumor has it there was a stealth buff to slicing. Not back to it's previous glory days, but a noticable increase nonetheless. I'll have to test tonight to see if that's true...

Ilum has a big change. 30kills or get 30 boxes, but no boxes were on the map for either side. So you have to join an ops, and fight. Kills only count if you at least hit the person before they die, so you can't just go afk. Can't call a companion out in that part either now. If you are a healer, you will get kill credit if you heal the person that is taking damage, and they kill the other guy. So at least they don't get screwed. I missed out on some kills when the pack broke off and jumped a few before I could get there. You do get extra valor now, and even more valor if you take the base (the old school daily way), I was getting 120 valor on some kills. At least I knocked out that daily. I was lucky, and joined an ops, and we rolled over the sith. If you have seen the video of some servers on Kotaku, then I was really lucky to get that done.
I don't like the new cooldown/refresh on skills, and I had a ton of lag on Ilum. My entire ops team had the loading screen pop up twice mid fight. I boarded my ship, and was kicked to character select. Guess I will see how Ilum goes when I am off vacation, and have to do that stuff at night.

This. I have no idea why they changed it, but it's annoying the living hell out of me.
On the plus side, AA looks nice

The newest bug seems to happen when you force leap, and in midair get kicked out of the game to desktop.

Looks like my Sentinel is still shelved, then. Yaaaay!
I had AA enabled already through my NVidia control panel, so I didn't notice anything.
For some reason, and I'm saying this because I don't know if it's just me, but the loading screen kept popping up randomly for me last night while I was on the Fleet. It never happened before the patch.
I had been hearing rumors of a rollback last night. Mostly because of people camping spawn points on Ilum, but I'm not a 50, so rumor is all I have to go on. Wondering how that's going to pan out.
