Coordinated PVP

So I took the plunge and started the PVP thing yesterday. It is currently an exercise in prolonged humility, since my experience has been that the Juyo Imps apparently rule the warzones and the Republic are n00bs, it wasn't too bad. I just wish that in Huttball, the Republic people would learn that taking the ball from one end of the map to the other would be much easier to do if they learned to actually pass the ball on occasion, like the imps do (rather than play the lone hero and earn free tickets to ganksville).

Nevertheless, the XP was decent, and it would be worth my while to start grinding valor now so I can gear up when I finally hit 50.

I was wondering if we couldn't get a few folks interested and have a coordinated PVP session on occasion? Beyond that, there is always open world PVP on Tatooine, so maybe as we ascend the levelling curve we could have events where we have two separate teams going all out and just fighting for fun? Maybe even get Unrepentant in on the mayhem, too?

I'm sure this has already been considered at some point.

I would like to try PvP in a few levels! I'm about to ding 28, and I doubt that it's worthwhile until one is about 35+... right?

Dodd....are you suggesting we have warzone wednesdays with unrepentant, gtf, archaic etc?

I've seen lower levels in Battlegrounds, Cusp. And frankly, between an Alvian whom I can communicate with and Little Cousin Jimmy who's learning what an MMO is for the very first time, I'd pick the former any day of the week. They buff all lower levels in warzones to be on-par(ish) with the level 50s.

That being said, in my experience, the level 50s have an edge due to slightly better stats, gear, access to more abilities, interrupts, etc. But that shouldn't discourage you from trying to earn valor, and learning how to navigate the battlegrounds effectively. Playing smart will always outperform good gear and stats...I've seen the Imps do it repeatedly. Why can't we?

The voidstar is the only PVP warzone I haven't gotten the hang of, yet.

That would be sweet.

In addition to Warzones we should do some other silliness. Like everyone puts their PVP /flag on and we have podraces (speeders) on Tatooine. You can race or you can try and gank racers.

Jimer, have you found the open world PVP area on Tatooine yet? It's near the Jundland area, just found it yesterday.

Anyone (even in same faction) who isn't in your group is open season. And from what I've seen, the map in that open area is fairly big.

Oh…and then there’s that vendor.

Located at the rear of Outlaw’s Den is a Gamorrean trader with items and gear available in exchange for Commendations. Players can acquire much of what he sells at other locations. However, he does carry specialty items of a cosmetic nature for players concerned about the look of their characters and Commendations to burn. There is one last thing about this Gamorrean – he enjoys his alcohol and is quite territorial about it. Anyone attempting to take or drink his alcohol will meet his blade. In Gabe’s case, the Inquisitor died in two swipes. Gabe did mention that players can kill him, and encouraged them to do so, as he drops some nice stuff. Gabe also added that when players kill the Gamorrean, he will respawn, but it will take a while. Gabe made no mention of exactly how long it would take for him to reappear or what impact the instancing of zones will have on the vendor.
It would be awesome to group up as an Operation (24 players), buy stuff from the Gamorrean, then kill him for the rest of the phat lewt.

The rest of the open PVP area is currently a ghost town.

Oh, it likely is. I think it was 24 at one point in beta, which might be why the article above was misleading.

I stumbled into it, yeah- but it was completely empty. :(

And with the Tat Open PVP zone, we could have non-warzone PVP fun intra guild or inter guild. And with 24 person size "armies" it could get pretty massive. Simple stuff like king of the hill or "these 4 guys are the captains of your team. When they all die your side loses" type stuff.

I'm interested to try. Did PvP for a good chunk this morning and due to timing no one on the republic side really knew what was going on. I've been trying to find a good guide/strategy/footage to figure out how to do PvP best, but I'm sadly coming up empty handed. Anyone have any tips/tricks/references?

Time to show how new I am - Open World PvP? What?

In general you improve pvp with practice. And if you have a team, or even part of a team on vent you can do even better. Understanding the rules of the warzone helpd. Kill healers first. Use crowd control and interupts liberally. And above all else start learning your class's strength versus the people you are fighting. Dueling against the mirror class can help you get practice.
