The convenient part of not wearing pants...you can never ruin the ones you are wearing.

Although i wasn't too impressed with the videos. Probably mostly because I was too busy being pissed at the guy playing the trooper for standing around not doing anything half the time. Then when he was playing he only used one ability most of the time.

Well he was the camera man and sometimes when they do those things they have to take a back seat to being super awesome. I did think "worst trooper ever. if anyone in alvis is that inactive in combat I'm demoting them to altarsquid for a week."

I was pretty stoked about erickson saying how companions are like weak players you can use to help fill in a group, so if you, jess and I are the only ones online we could just bring one companion and have a dps who is on par with a mage who shall not be named instead of risking a pug.

IMO, the gameplay looks a bit like launch SWG evolved! Which I LOVE!

This wouldn't be a mage who claimed to have a broken keyboard, said they wouldn't show up to any raids til it was replaced, then showed up anyway?
Who also didn't seem to have any problems DPSing with their broken keyboard, just moving out of the bad, doing interrupts, or really anything non-DPS related but still required to succeed?

I love that mage...with fire.

The thing I am really looking forward to, and this sounds corny, is the story aspect. The voiced quest stuff I think will really draw me in. I mean in WoW I am working hard to kill all these raid bosses who I assume are bad, but have no real reason as to why they are bad because it is way to easy to gloss over lore.

I look forward to hearing "Mr. Windspire, can you please show us on the doll where Dood touched you?" from the judge.

If this game doesn't release soon, I'm going to need to do something drastic.

Don't get your hopes up. After watching the interview with DE that Joun linked, with the way DE answered the release date question makes me think that even though they are still saying 2011 he's thinking they aren't going to make that. It's a gut feeling and I admit I'm reading into things, I just didn't like the way he answered like it was a "haha yeah we're still saying 2011 even though we know we're full of shit" snarky answer.

One of the german peripheral makers (SWTOR mouses etc) said he hoped to have them out by november or something. And the EA chief said they are being very closed about a release date because they don't want to tip their hand to the competition (ie blizzard). They don't want Blizzard (which hasn't released D3 yet) to decide okay you are launching September, guess what Diablo is also releasing September. Or Diablo and we'll add a map pak to Starcraft 2.

It makes sense in the marketplace competition, but it sucks for us.

To me the marketing stuff doesn't make sense. Maybe I'm looking at this from a skewed perspective but to me ToR is the 500 lb gorilla in the room that everyone is going to want to avoid, but Bioware isn't treating it that way. They're treating it like they're worried that a new expansion for Hello Kitty online would kill it. The ToR fanbase is already massive and chomping at the bit. Bioware needs to realize they got the big stick here and start wielding it...say they are launching on day X and watch every other publisher rearrange his release schedule to not compete.

I don't know, Diablo3 is a pretty big stick as well. And Blizzard isn't known for. Putting out bad games. They would each be wise to not step on each others toes.

Well there are only a few companies capable of crippling a TOR launch and those are the ones they are worried about. If TOR is the 500lb gorilla, Blizzard is in its various IPs the 2,000 lb one. And if Blizzard got a release date and started rolling out new Mr T ads or got Shatner to do another one they could crowd out the MMO attention to dampen TORs launch. One possibel competition I'm not sure about is the FPS market. I know they aren't direct competitors, but if Activision(Blizzard's partner in publishing) launched Call of Duty at the same time it could serve as a distraction as well.

I imagine they also have some quality issues they want to hammer out. They know if they have a rocky launch people will say SWG2, and go back to WoW. So until they are sure it is polished enough to roll out stable they may have a window but not a date yet.

That's kinda my point. It kinda feels like Bioware adn Blizzard are having a starting contest to see who will blink and give a release date to their game first, when it's in both of their best interests to give each other some breathing room because both properties are going to be big, but putting them head to head will just hurt both.

But Activision and EA (not Bioware and Blizzard) are the real competitors here. And they loathe each other and Activision has deeper pockets should they go head to head.

I hear that late-November to mid-December the game should be out. YMMV, VWP.

Note the lack of year in the post, thereby guaranteeing accuracy no matter how delayed it is...
