So, for those wondering about storyline and whatnot... here's a couple things:
Watched everyone in a party start a conversation to start a crawl. Basically, everyone's avatar gets a little box popping up. When you get choices in conversation, your choice gets a roll. Highest roll wins, and that party member's conversation choice is the one that gets used (and also the one that's given VO and the camera cuts to them saying their choice. Very cool).
There is a LOT of cutscenes/conversations. It's weird. It's very much like playing KOTOR but with friends. Co-op KOTOR? But it was super fun doing so. When someone chose a douchey conversation choice, and everyone else chose the safe bet, and that one person won, everyone wasn't mad. It was just like you were with them, everyone was like, "Oh god! Why would you SAY that, you d-bag?!" But in a very friendly way, like if a friend of yours said something embarrassing in front of someone you were trying to impress.
Anyway, I thought it was kind of neat how they implemented conversations with parties.
Favorite part of the weekend? After checking out space combat, I talked to a dev about it. I said, "I think there's a lot of JtL fanboys that will hate this." His response? "We get that. But nowhere in the movies do you see Han and Chewie just fucking off in space."- It's very familiar in terms of gameplay.
- Space combat is fucking awesome. SUPER fun. No flying around aimlessly, they just toss you right into the action on rails (but you still have to avoid asteroids and other such things, not just shoot at stuff while your ship avoids the space stuff).
- Smugglers are heals/dps. The demo they had at PAX featured Scoundrel as a healer.
- It is NOT A SANDBOX GAME. This is a WoW-esque MMO, and that was made crystal clear to me by a dev this weekend. It doesn't pretend to be anything but. Other than that, I have no answers for you.

"We took the part of space combat that was fun -- you know, the COMBAT part? And made it fun."
I'll bet 10 bucks that Dev was Dallas Dickerson. He was a dev at SOE for SWG and he used to say about the NGE, no one wants to play Star Wars to be Uncle Owen.Dood wrote:I dunno, I rather liked this tidbit you shared with me:

Most people get Nice/Evil/Neutral. Scoundrels get sarcasm. At least that's what it looked like.Dashl wrote:About the conversation Wheel/options, is it like Mass Effect and Dragon Age, where the options are nice, evil, and neutral? Dragon Age 2 changes the neutral one to sarcasm, which is a lot funnier. I just want to know if you are playing republic, but can still be an evil asshole.
Yes you can, faction is being held separate from lightside/darkside, so you can be the most evil bastard you want to be, robbing from the poor to give to the rich and setting orphanages on fire because it's funny, and still be a Jedi Knight for example. You'll just be a dark Jedi Knight.Dashl wrote:About the conversation Wheel/options, is it like Mass Effect and Dragon Age, where the options are nice, evil, and neutral? And that will impact how your companions and other NPCs interact with you. Like if you are the rainbows, fairies happy fun time sith, you might not get the respect of your peers you might expect.Furiel wrote:Yes you can, faction is being held separate from lightside/darkside, so you can be the most evil bastard you want to be, robbing from the poor to give to the rich and setting orphanages on fire because it's funny, and still be a Jedi Knight for example.
