Hope you all had/are having a good one. After refusing her Yoda costume earlier in the week, our little one was totally game for her outfit and some trick-or treating. I rushed in the house to throw on my complimentary Han Solo outfit so we could rock the neighborhood. Wife didn't have time to get in her Leia gear tonight, but oh well; another year!
Did you all have a grand ole time?
Best of all, she won this duel and ended up with both light-sticks. My little girl can dual-wield.
Guess who was more excited.

Daughter went as Robin and I went as a casual friday batman (batman logo t-shirt and plastic cowl), We came upon a house where the family was getting ready to go out the dad was the Riddler, mom was the Penguin and the 2yo was catwoman. I was like "We'll this is awkward". We went with them for a few houses and then a lady answered the door dressed as Batgirl. DC would have been pretty proud.
Suprisingly I saw no Banes.

A maybe 5-year old identified Yoda instantly: "That's Yoda!" then looked at me and said, "And Luke Skywalker!"
Close enough!

Have you considered joining

I'm sure lots of kids would love to see Luke Skywalker.

Yeah, seen those, I don't think I'd meet the costuming standards!
However, I was proud of turning this:

Not sure if these will show up in the post, so I apologies if they don't, but here is my Halloween creation. Not as impressive as that blaster (if you lived close, I can promise you it would have to be under lock and key...or it would be mine!!!), but I'm happy with them.

Wow, excellent! I'm terrible at draw/carving art stuff, I get better when it turns to 3D objects for some reason. Did you use a stencil or cut your own?

Thanks! And I used stencils the Mrs.snagged off the interweb. I could NEVER do that without stencils!

Are you familiar with a painting method called a wash? A black wash on the silver parts would make that look amazing.

I'm not familiar with any painting style past finger paints; I just know where to point a spray can!
I did take some brake dust and applied some carbon scoring to the barrel, it's not quite as bright as it is in that blue-background photo--that was taken right after the paint dried. In the pic where I'm holding it you can see it reflects the light a bit less.
