Well if searching by author was too tough, I guess clicking on "Crafting" in the tag cloud would be beyond you.

What can I say, I was too distracted with finding original ways to mock you aside from rehashing our typical "blackie is on the prowl, look for the fat man working at chuck-e-cheese's".
I get it grandpa...the computer machine with the intarwebs is hard for someone your age to figure out.
Oh, an age joke? I'm grandpa-how many years older than you am I? I forget in my old age...

Oh, wait, that's right, I'm still 4 years younger than you. It certainly feels like more, but if you got out and exercised more you wouldn't look so old and busted. Maybe go out and walk behind the school bus full of elementary school students? Then we'd also have less fodder to mock you with.
4 years younger? Really? I'm surprised since the only people I know who can't use a search function (besides yourself) have AARP memberships. :emperor:
I did use a search function - I 'blackferned' it. :shifty:
next time if I'm not around: http://lmgtfy.com/?q=the+church+of+alvis+crafting
That's way too much work.

I'll just call you instead.

Super helpful guys - thanks for the updates!

I have to admit I sort of.. am okay w/ the AFK crafting stuff.. I have also uh.. been known to occasionally AFK lvl in various FTPMMOs. (Yes I'm going to hell. I know).

However I'm anxious to give it all a try. Love the insights tho!

Well, it's not so much an afk type crafting thing. You can only craft 5 things at a time, so that's only 5 minutes. It allows you to do other things while crafting is taking place. If you're in a full group and can't bring out your companion, send him on missions or crafting.

I'm counting on people here being really good at crafting so I can continue my SWG crafting ineptitude.

5 minutes at the start... I think some of my RE'ed schematics are 30 minutes per item... so it does pay off later on.

Crew missions... yeah, that's still 1 per companion, but they also get a lot longer... most of mine are in the 15 minute range now.

I intend to try to outsource crafting needs to GTF......

shhh.... it's like... making good use of the other side of the fence... right? mebbe? No?

Well then I'll be over here at the loom making hawtpants....

In all seriousness though, I'm curious what role the economy and crafting will play in this version of Star Wars : An Alvis Story. While SWG allowed for those of us in GTF to effectively play Civilization, the Sims, and Sim City I don't expect to see the same level of sandbox-y opportunity. However you can bet that there will be a fair number of crafters (myself amongst them.. most bc I have an auction house problem - or solution depending who you ask).

What I want to know is... what language is the game programmed in and has anyone seen word of addons a la curse?

Bioware's official stance to this point on add-ons is none at launch, some down the road. AFAIK they haven't made an official announcement on whether those add-ons would be BW created or community created.
They say when you go on a quest for vengence to dig two graves. They underestimate me.

The Plush Family:
DPS - Furiel: Commando, T'ony: Slinger, Kessilee: VG, Ziraava: Sent
Tank - Montae: Shadow, Gaen: Guardian
Heals - Kam'ryn: Sage, Sabran: Soundrel

Yeah, but someone, Bioware or not, needs to fix the damn UI. I don't understand why I can't have all 4 bars at the bottom, at about 60% their present size, be able to open multiple windows without them automatically closing after 2 (or the map closing everything)... it's the biggest "noob" mistake they've made.

Yeah, the lack of customization or how it's hidden for some of the windows, like group, is a real screwup on their part.

UI is so important... I'm surprised they haven't offered more customization.

I obviously haven't played enough MMO's because I haven't had any issues with the UI at all. It looks almost exactly like my SWG UI looked except the action bars are at the bottom instead of the top.

I noticed that in the screenies myself...

Intentional on their part I presume?

Since SWG I've sort of lost my mind in terms of customizing my UI. My better half is a purist and prefers the native UI, but I want artwork on the sidebars, and I want the XP bar over here, I want a magical unicorn over there, and a fancy flashing thingy over there and I want to see my DPS broken down over there, and holy shit I need to monitor the auctionhouse!!!

Yeah. I have a multitasking... uh... need. I'm more libel to hang out in the cities and craft/sell/mutitask then I am quest. It's the "I have to build something" in me.

Also 3 minutes to servers up.

In SWG you could move every element of the UI wherever you wanted to, and resize most elements.

In ToR, you can't move anything and can only resize a couple things (and that's still very limited).

I'm not that worried about UI customization. They have said add-ons are something they want to do after launch. I'm fine putzing through with native UI while leveling, and by the time operations are happening we might start seeing the first UI modifications and then I can start sculpting my raidspace.

Well.. snap.

Tho Joun is right, I'm sure they'll open things up in the next few months.

I'm getting that. My only point was that I don't notice these things because I - apparently - don't play enough to necessitate caring.
