Daytona in the rain

I raced Daytona International Speedway for the first time yesterday in a beat-ass Lincoln with the ChumpCar world series. It was a 14 hour endurance race on the same circuit they use for the Rolex 24, and bands of rain from an offshore tropical storm made for some interesting conditions; we had iffy tires and it was like driving in the snow when it was really wet, very tricky stuff. The banking is surreal at speed. It's odd looking up the windshield to see where you're going. I even had the sunset stint, and was treated to some amazing solar lightshow and a huge-ass rainbow over the back stretch. 2.5+ hours of track time at Daytona. Something I'll never forget.

And on a similar note, here's an incar video of last year's NASA Championships. I'm no longer at GRM full-time since I left to be able to spend more time with my little one, but racing is still a passion. This is in a Factory Five Roadster:

Yes, but their cars are less aerodynamic than one would expect.
