Fired on the 4th

BTW, I got fired from my bartending gig on the 4th.
I was working the downstairs bar with another co-worker and we were slammed on the 4th. One of the owner's sons came behind the bar, leaned on the glass washer and started talking to someone at the bar. I moved around him while touching his shoulder saying "Let me get by you".
He freaks and yells "Did you just push me?"
"Yeah" I respond as I continue to make drinks for a bar that is two deep.
"Don't you every lay your hand on my person!" and he rants for a minute. "Now appologize!"
I look at him, say "Ok. Sorry" and continue to make drinks.
At the end of my shift, I go up to my manager and jokingly say "So is this my last night?"
She says "Probably."
I laughed and said "Really? Ok, I'm going to clock out then."
She said "No problem."
I wasn't too happy with the place and was mainly doing it to add more experience to my resume. And I sure didn't enjoy being treated liek shit.

It's only because you didn't buy him a drink first. If you had you would have been getting reacharounds the rest of your life.

I should have thought of that. Damn!

You were WAY nicer about all of that than I would have been. Owners son or not I would have told the fucker he's got 2 choices, get out from behind the bar, or start pouring drinks, his choice.

This.
And I would have moved him from behind the bar "the hard way".

Wow, I'm sorry to hear that your stint is over man. It didn't sound like you were happy there though. There's got to be SOMEWHERE In Austin that does real cocktails.
Jason, the owner of the bar I'm working at, and I get in each others' way every now and then, usually resulting in little more than "Dude!' "DOOD!" "DUUUUUDE!" and then we make drinks.
What bar were you working at? I need to make sure it's avoided by everyone.

It was Steiner Ranch Steakhouse and trust me you don't want to order a drink there. I have just two words, Bar Sour.
Yeah, I didn't do anything different from what we normally do when working behind the bar. He was just being an ass. I hear that this isn't the first time he has had someone fired when he feels put out or embarassed.
I'm starting to look around for something else and I'm sure it will turn up. Besides I am going to Houston this weekend, New Orleans in just over two weeks and then Jen is headed to SF at the end of the month. I was having to ask for the month off anyway.

Houston? You're going to Anvil, aren't you you sonofabitch.
If you do, tell Bobby I said "Hi."

FYI, per people I've asked, Peche and East Side Showroom are your best bets for great cocktails in Austin - though East Side gets the caveat of "if Adam or Chauncey are there."

Yes. A couple of months ago Jen asked about staying overnight for a wedding. I asked where and she said Houston. I said we would all go and I would make the hotel reservation near the Anvil. She asked "What anvil?"
I'm looking forward to trying it out.

I will take a look at East Side Showroom. I probably won't actively look until next month since I have so much going on right now.

Fino Austin is also supposed to be good. Apparently William Norris is the bartender there, and there seems to be a consensus that wherever William Norris is working is where you want to be.

I will check that out too.
