Second of all, when Obi-Wan scares off the Tusken Raiders from an unconscious Luke, we no longer hear Obi-Wan's famous "Krayyt Dragon" call, but instead it just sort of sounds like Walrus Man barfing.
I snorted the water I was drinking through my nose whilst reading this at my desk at work. Thankfully I think no one noticed. I haven't listened to the sound clip yet on the site, but I have a pretty funny image in my mind of what that might sound like.
Thanks for the laugh.

I can kind of understand the other changes, but why this one? Was this sound particularly bad? Sure, it sounded kind of like a turbine spinning up, but I don't think it ruined immersion.

EDIT: WHOOOOOOOPPPPPPSSS. I accidentally hit the mod "EDIT" button instead of "QUOTE". So I posted over Furiel's post by mistake. I'm gonna delete and repost, and hopefully Furiel remembers exactly what he said. Shit. Sorry man.

I actually found the Ewok eyes the worst of those three. The Vader one sort of is contextually appropo - as shite as the ROS "NOOOOOOO" is, it's there and not going away - so I can see how this edit is intended to humanize Vader and be the tether that brings him from the dark.
I don't mind the Krayt howl change either.
Maybe I'm just seeing things through rose-colored Lucas glasses...

Fixed.
The Vader "Nooooooo" doesn't feel very grievous right now, but it is just one more fucking example of Lucas' inability to remember what subtlety is in film. The look from Emperor to Luke and back by Vader with the tightening shot on his face pretty much conveyed the struggle going on and, oh, I don't know, maybe picking up the fucking Emperor and throwing him into a fucking pit conveyed that Vader didn't want the Emperor to kill his son.
Then again, this is the same man who changed it so that Han shot second because he didn't "think you can redeem a murderer" and then went and turned the entire movie franchise into the fall and redemption of a mass murdering monster.

An old classic from the first 'remake' of Star Wars. Still fits, even after all these years.

is it ok if I get this, but don't actually pay for it? I got a $80 gift card from work to Best Buy, who just happens to be selling the 6 disk set for $79.99. So, technically, it's not me giving Lucas any money, right? I mean, I'd feel bad if I was supporting his revisionist history.

You are perpetuating his mentality that a whole new version is needed by moving another unit off the shelves.
