Interesting read.

I haven't quite figured out where I stand on this. Arguably in the acceptance stage, but "hopeful" would also summarize my feelings towards SWTOR - as in I'm hopeful that it will renew my interest in the SW Universe. I've been a fan my whole life, used to go to nerd conventions...I even barged in the office one Hallowe'en, a few years ago in a senior executive meeting in full Vader garb and knelt before our Vice-President ...and yet lately I haven't even been keeping up with the clone wars cartoons. Ten years ago I would have devoured the series several times over, and now I'm just too lazy, waiting for it to release on blu-ray to get caught up, and to be honest I'm not even done watching season two yet. What's wrong with me?!?

I'm reading up on the antics some of you guys are up to in the Cargo bay, and having a chuckle as well, and happy that you guys are finding ways of keeping your enthusiasm fueled. But overall I guess I'm just really getting ansy about the release of this game.

Here is my take on Star Wars: Original trilogy and prequels, EU, Clone Wars Animated and everything else.

It is like the Bible. You know how Catholics take certain points of the Bible as being really important while ignoring other parts, and Protestants take other parts and downplay the Catholic parts, and how Jews say the who New Testament shouldn't be considered, and Mormons say "Hey there is another major book from after the New Testament!".

Star Wars: Find what is important to you and downplay the dumb parts.

Example: Midichlorians. The connection of midichlorians and the force as expressed by Qui Gon Jin is in direct conflict with Yoda's explanation in ESB.

QUI-GON : Midi-chlorians are a microcopic lifeform that reside within all
living cells and communicates with the Force.

YODA: And well you should not. For my ally in the Force. And a
powerful ally it is. Life creates it, makes it grow. It's energy
surrounds us and binds us. Luminous beings are we...(Yoda pinches
Luke's shoulder)...not this crude matter. (a sweeping gesture) You must
feel the Force around you. (gesturing) Here, between you...me...the
tree...the rock...everywhere! Yes, even between this land and that
ship!

I prefer to follow Yoda's teachings and example. The force is all around us and Yoda says it binds organic and non-organic material like the rock and the ship. So what do I think of Qui-Gon? I think he has a theory, but it is one school of thought in the Jedi Order. Like one faction goes with Yoda, and Qui-Gon is this opposing view who has seen a correlation between midi-chlorians and the force, but mistaken correlation for causation. So in this case in my Star Wars faith, Qui-Gon's interpretation of the force is explained by his character being wrong about something.
