Advice needed on Electronic Purchase

Post by Reese » Sun Jan 09, 2011 2:40 am

So I am looking for a laptop that will hold ip to gaming needs (Civ V et al). At this point I have nothing with more than 1.8ghz CPU.

At risk of severe beating by fDood, I have been considering jumping to a Mac. But I know nothing of their ability to game. I was thinking of the 13" MacBook pro.

The question is will this handle gaming or is there a better PC you all have found to game from bed? My PC issue is I have burned through 4 laptops in as many years.

And before you ask I am limited for space so the desktop is not likely to work out as I have no place for it.

I bought the biggest, fastest Toshiba Qosmio and it's sick for gaming. Runs SC2 at highest settings no problem. It weighs 10 pounds though.

The problem with the Mac is that you're still limited in choices for your games, but as a laptop, it should suit your needs.

If you BootCamp it with Windows, you will be able to run most games. Personally, I find a 13" screen too small.

So, basically you pay more to get a mac laptop, but by using bootcamp it runs slower.
I think your best option is to skip the mac if you want to play games.

Reese, just a reminder -- MacBook Pros don't even come in anything faster than dual core for the 13" models. So think about that before you invest in one!

After buying diapers I can't afford more than a hamster on a wheel. And it best be a used wheel. Or used hamster (looks a fDood).
