SWG Emu project

I'm sure some of you know about the SWG Emu project, well its live, with an official stable server now.

It's a community built, pre-cu SWG server, and is awesome.

Simply install galaxies off your original media, register through swgemu.com, download the enhanced launchpad, run it, it downloads the patches and bam, pre-cu star wars galaxies, in all its original glory. In fact better, because things actually work!

It's not 100% yet, the theme parks arent completed, and CH and BE arent working right yet, but pretty much everything else is!

I'm Teradok in game, hit me up!

Is there an alternative if you don't have your original discs? (other than eBay..)

I am fairly sure I still have my originals. I will attempt iso them and post them for download from my sites.

Awesome!

And yes, it feels like it did before the CU, except now it's built by the players, for the players, and none of sonys BS. (RM/CM is still OP though!)

I trashed my copies a few years ago, but I have the version from Steam. Will that work?

Actually, I bought that in the Lucasarts pack, but never installed it. Think it will still let me?

I found my disks and original box. :)

If there is a number of people that want it, what I may do is create a torrent file for it.

Dashl, I dont believe it will work. It has to be a pre-cu copy, it might even need to be a v 1.0 copy... You can check on swgemu.com FAQ, basically if your install media includes any of the post-cu crap it isnt going to work. I'm at work right now so I dont have my disks with me, but if Maizan creates a torrent, I can help seed.

Dunno if its good or not, but it was created for the EMU, so I'm betting it is.

Ok. I have created a torrent and posted it using bittorrent. (not sure this will work)

Here is a link to the torrent file I created. http://qccs.homedns.org/images/swgtorrent.zip
Steps from the above torrent post:
**Once you have the game installed DO NOT use the original launchpad to update**

Use this launchpad to play the emulator
http://lpe.ocdsoft.com/

now create an account on the swg-emu website, it will be your login info also
http://www.swgemu.com/forums/content.php

now you are playing free star wars galaxies, join the liberator server

1.Make sure that u have .Net Framework up to date (basicly ver. 4)

2.Make sure that lauch pad downloaded every file for u (dont download filles, just let LPE
download them for u), for me i dunno why it took so long, about 4h.

3.The LPE will automaticly start (if not double click again on desktop shortcut), and u will see add server button.

4.Add a server from any SWGemu list (optionally its Nova TS, or Liberator TS)

5. Login with SWGemu forum username & password

6.Make a Character
Also noted in the posts that the game will not work on 64-bit machines

Thanks,

Maizan

The game will work on 64 bit machines, you just get a warning saying it might not. And also, you have to go into the security settings on the launchpad and check "run as administrator"

And use basilisk, it is the live sever

only took me an hour or so... but that was because I was trying to use the third disk from another set and installation kept erroring out. I just wish I wasnt in the middle of a huge project at work, I dont have time to play!! That and a 3 month old daughter :p (By the way, I'm working on arranging to marry her off, so I'm accepting mutually beneficial offers)

Couldn't get Maizan's iso's to work - seems like they may be damaged or corrupt. I will go digging for my original CE tonight - maybe the discs are in with the candy...

Sorry about that. It seems my iso creation program takes a 650MB disk and makes a 750MB iso. Stupid program.

So onto plan B. As most of the data is already compressed into cab files. I am going just dump them to a directory and create another torrent. Folder names are the disk names.

Apologies.

If you like, try again.

It should be non iso files.

I was doing the install and it does not require the install files to be on a disk. The install gives you a path option for disk2.
