Well,

got my new intake yesterday, but wasn't going to install it. I had actually logged into the game and realized i was crazy tired so i logged off. Couldn't get to sleep and I was bored as hell, so I went out in the pitch dark and the rain and decided to start tearing my engine bay apart to install this. Wasn't too bad though, only about 2 hours total. Gives a mean throaty growl after 3k rpm. Sounds much nicer than the usual strain of a 4-banger.

Very nice, sometimes a bit of underhood manual labor is the answer to all problems. And gotta love that hard-tube short-ram sound! I've got a Comptech on my Type R, it's a short ram like yours with a box enclosure and a secondary tube that runs down to the fender. Occasionally I pull the top off the box for the truly obnoxious VTEC wail; it's comically loud in that car. I miss the tunnels in Pittsburgh, we once had 5 Type Rs in the mile-long Liberty Tubes, with not traffic ahead of us...sounded like a half-speed F1 race with engines at 8500 RPM...

Yeah I have the tube to convert it to a Ram air setup, but currently nowhere to mount the ram air intake. So for now I'm just gonna hold onto those pieces.

And yes its loud as hell when I hit about 4500+ RPM. May have to look into putting Dynamat in places inside the cab.

Dynamat is weight! Weight is the enemy! You should instead strip out the existing insulation, and unnecessary things like carpet, speakers etc.

Fun fact: My roll bar goes through the rear speaker holes, so they're gone, and when I came across a pair of aftermarket speakers that boasted being lightweight neodymium magnets I bought 'em to replace the fronts. 1.3 lbs. each!

Moved on to the interior, just to try somethings out. I have started working on parts of my center console, adding a carbon fiber "wrap" to certain pieces. On this first piece I also painted the ring around the shift boot, since Nissan just has that generic looking silver paint there. Thought it might clash too much with the new CF look, so I went with a slightly textured metallic black paint.

That came out really sharp! How difficult were the curves with the CF wrap?

Honestly not bad at all. I didnt even need to use a heat gun, though I do have one. Basically I just pulled on the excess to make it tight around the curves and smoothed it down with my thumb. Afterwards I went over it with my felt-sided squeegee (this stuff can get pretty biffed up by a regular one since it is actually a textured CF wrap) just to help seal it to the smoothest surfaces. I would probably suggest using adhesion promoters around the smallest/sharpest curves though. I didn't and that may have en effect in the future, but for now its plenty good for me.
